The Hill is reporting on a study and could have written a better headline or lede. I assume a very small handful (zero) of you read the story, let alone the study.

I read the bullshit, misleading tweet the the Hill’s social media team posted for thousands of people to read, far more than will read their article or the “study”.
 
…and speaking of science communication failures, the study is behind a paywall.
 
I just remember Birdman saying something about how awesome horseshoe crabs are. I feel like our resident scientist should’ve been on top of this.

I did publish a paper open access in 2020 on the effects of predicted sea level rise on the range wide extinction probability of eastern black rails.

Maybe if you scientists wrote papers about the effects of predicted sea levels on human beings we wouldn’t be in this mess. Eastern black rails can’t even read!
