i also have had plenty of good cookies because again i am marrying an ex-pastry chef

here's a hot take for you: cookie (graham cracker) crust >>>> regular pie crust. and my wife makes a great pie crust using her grandmother's recipe. but that might just be due to key lime pie being my favorite dessert. my wife also makes a killer fruit tart, which is basically a giant sugar cookie with pastry cream and fruit on top.
yah the pie df2009 was referencing earlier I made (probably the best I've ever done) was the buxton hall banana pudding pie.. and that's a 'nilla wafer crust

i'll probably never make that again though, an incredible amount of work

just asked the fiancé and she said cookies lol

Most pastry chefs think they are above cookies in my experience

my sister used to make a Martha Stewart gingerbread cheesecake at Christmas. it has a ginger snap crust, and the recipe called for you to first make the ginger snaps, but she just bought them.

nobody is gonna change anyone else's mind here, that's the one thing I learned from the last time we did this thread

I don’t think graham cracker crust > traditional pie crust is a hot take at all

ofc i ended up at bottom of page RIP

drop one:
waffles
pancakes
french toast

ur gonna make your decision based on a chain's desserts?

though i will say the classic milkbar "pie" is one of the few pies I really like, and most of their cookies sound good on paper but end up being meh

it eats less like a pie though and more like a gooey bar (and those are really closer to cakes), so I'm not even sure I can put that squarely in the pie category
A CHAIN like we’re talking Cheesecake Factory I swear with these amateurs
