our neighborhood never lost power, very thankful for underground power lines.

That’s really fortunate. We just did our morning walk through Watts-Hillandale neighborhood with the dogs and it’s a mess. Tons of big limbs down, stoplights still out everywhere. Don’t really see any work getting done which isn’t promising. Seems like much of downtown is still out.

Same by us. We're in Old East Durham and it doesn't look like they've started working on any of the downed lines or clearing any of the number of trees blocking some of the streets.

JFC just got an update from Duke Energy that they have started to perform an assessment for the hardest hit areas and expect to have an initial estimate for restoring our power by early this afternoon. That really shattered any hope I have for the day.

Welp I've been meaning to clean out the fridge and freezer

longest i ever went without power was 7 days. In a Florida summer. that was miserable, was post hurricane. Whole house was so musty by the time it was done. Thankfully my company put us up in a hotel for a portion of it, but man that just sucked
