Cutting the Cord (Ditching TV, not having a baby)

On YTTV is there a way if you record a game and start from the beginning when it’s still going that it doesn’t start showing what’s live when you hover over it? That might not make sense how I’m saying it.

Basically I record all Wake and Panthers games and if I start watching a little later, when I open YTTV the icon for the game is the top thing in the For You section. And when you put the cursor over it it gives a little live preview. So I kinda just try to not look when clicking start from the beginning. I already have it hide the scores.
did this last night

add the game to your library then when you log into the app go to your library and click the game -- it gives you the option to join live or start from the beginning

didn't see any score or preview

weirdly when I went to watch the game it wasn't in the Home section like it usually is, had to go over to library and yeah it didn't automatically show what was live.

I'm dumping fios and probably going with xfinity (NoVA).

Does anyone have a compatible modem they like? I just see an xfinity list of compatible modems.

Why would anyone dump FiOS for cable? Woof.

So many reasons with bad customer service, hounding us for upsell, the battle to not get our priced raised. I could go on.
today storms raged through. Knocked out power and internet. Power back. Dumped me from every attempt to log a ticket. One time a chat resulted in a sales opportunity to upgrade before she would help. With the final of many "no's" they finally said, "ok i'll transfer for tech support." Wife called for a 45 minute wait time, they hung up halfway through.
Once they dropped the employee discount i had and jumped us to current full freight I just need to get away. Not really another option that I've found.

Ha, well that sounds awful but also completely contrary to every FiOS experience I've ever heard of.

Our Verizon FiOS has had like 1 outage in 3 years, doesn't even have any upsell options, the price has never changed from $60/month, we get 1GB down and up, and there's essentially no equipment.

Just the idea of going to Comcast to improve customer service or pricing seems like the most backward thing I've ever heard of. In our area of Northern Virginia that'd be like avoiding Chic-fil-a for a Taco Bell to improve food quality and customer service...

I'm not happy about it (and those m fers -verizon- layed me off) but my wife is really pissed at them. We can join with no contract. If it's bad I can make a case to go back.

Definitely sorry to hear that. Good luck. I've been in Northern Virginia for 20 years and Comcast/Xfinity has been the single worst customer experience, repeatedly and consistently, during that entire time. Except maybe if you count DC cabs before Uber arrived. But it's close. Any time Xfinity gains a customer I feel like a little part of me dies inside.

Alright, just made the YTTV plunge with a 3-week free trial. If Spectrum/Disney don't have their acts together by the end of the month, the move might be permanent (and I'll have to figure out something for the Hurricanes come hockey season).

Fingers crossed. Internet fixed and I may have my wife convinced to keep internet, dump tv, and buy our own modem and not move to comcast.

Two questions that just may clinch it. Does youtube TV give us local affiliate channels (NBC etc) and can we record CBS Sunday morning with the dvr function?

Yes.
