A Haunted Chat Thread: So Many Cities in #Decline

Another sketchy food show personality story. I know someone who was a PA on the original run of Man v. Food. Apparently Adam Richman was a notorious womanizer and would pick up women at his eating challenges on the reg. Like they would fly into a city, this dude would eat like 10 lbs of food over the course of the day, he'd bag multiple women, and then they'd be on the road to the next place.

That show only lasted like two years which makes sense bc how in the world could you live like this and be alive.

I know I'd be terrible on any reality show where you're stuck in a house like Big Brother or the Bachelorette or Love is Blind because I'd constantly be tired. "Where's Frosty? Oh he's taking a nap again?". I wouldn't last very long.

Dang you got to go to raffi?

hopefully he got them before he ate the 10 suicide wings or the 4 lb burger

I'm sure you've heard Even Flow or Alive. Maybe Better Man or Daughter.
Gun to my head I could not name a single Peale Jam song.

I’m certain I’ve hear them. I’m just not a big music guy.

Also, my parents listened exclusively to the Oldies station until I was in high school so there’s a big music gap for me.

It's fucking crazy to me that Alive is older today than Love Me Do was when Alive was first released.

I always hate hearing stats like that. like if Marty went back to the past today he'd be in 1993 !

hey I have a gall bladder story!

Starting around age 20 I would intermittently get extremely sharp abdominal pain that was absolutely debilitating. Would happen once every 3-6 months and would knock me flat for a solid 4-6 hours. IT was so intermittent that I couldn't identify any trigger. When it was happening there was basically no way to relieve the pain, had to just wait it out. Saw a couple doctors who thought it was gall bladder related, had a bunch of imaging but nothing showed up. When I had kids I decided to really push to get it worked up. Eventually they found some gall bladder sludge (not stones) in my bile ducts. So I would have the sharp attacks anytime the sludge was thick enough to block the duct and then eventually they would move and the pain would be relieved. They said I'd need my gall bladder out eventually, so I might as well do it as an elective surgery so I could plan it and they could do it lapropscopically instead of opening the abdomen.

I'd be out of work for a month because of lifting restrictions so I scheduled the surgery for early March. TWIST: I scheduled it for March of 2020. I had my procedure the day before the hospital canceled all elective surgeries. Two days after my surgery, my kid's daycare closed so now I had to be home with a 2 and a 4 year old while recovering. Good times.

I get really bummed out when I remember that Get Low came out over 20 years ago

It honestly sounds exhausting

Yeah I hope he bangs the chicks first at least. Trying to have sex after eating that much just sounds awful.

Yeah I would get booted from any of these shows because I would be reading a book by myself like 90% of the time. Or live posting to the CT.

They did the surgery laparoscopically with a robot, which I thought was pretty cool. The pain was apparently coming from the blocked duct since it was just backing everything up - the gallbladder surgery could have been delayed (in theory since it wasn't the actual source of the pain), but it was just going to keep sending stones back to the duct whenever the gallbladder was compressed, which was any time she ate or drank, so yeah, just went ahead and got that done.
