MBB Game 3: Utah Utes - Thursday 9 pm - Charleston Classic Quarter-Final ESPNU

Um, it’s Forbes’ roster and we’re in year 4. If we have no true bigs, that’s on him.
Marsh being concussed (by an uncalled elbow to the head) wasn't on many bingo cards.

The top half of the conference never ever ever plays a sub-300 KP team. That’s their secret.
This isn't true, the Mountain West plays literal made up schools like Northern New Mexico and Bethesda and Vanguard and South Dakota Mines and Fresno Pacific. But somehow these games don't negatively effect their metrics because they aren't D1 or something.

Can't blame this on Forbes. We have no true bigs available against their inside game. If we have Marsh and/or Efton makes a big difference. Carr is good but geez totally outmanned inside. Utah is tough and we held our own
It’s not the NBA where the coach is at the mercy of the GM. Forbes is responsible for the roster.

Take two top players off most teams and they aren't going to be very good. Wake is missing three. Even though a bunch on here don't like Marsh, he converted a lot of lobs into points. Opposing defenses had to account for that.
Of course most teams would suffer without 2 of their best players, but you still have to find ways to win these games. Utah is far from an unbeatable team. I’m of the opinion marsh doesn’t have the traits to be an ACC level center other than his height/physique, but ya at least having him out there likely would’ve helped slightly today. But going on 4 years in Forbes teams (the last 2 seasons and so far this season in particular) seem to fall just short, both from an individual game and season wide standpoint. At some point this is just what our current program is

Marsh is awful and I think him being out actually helped us this game. I am fine with Keller taking his minutes for the rest of the year.

Are we really using Efton as an excuse?
Not using him as an excuse, just saying if we had him or Marsh inside it would have made a difference. They had about 15 dunks, no bigs available kind of hurt.

Right. D2 doesn’t count. So they can play those games. But against D1, never play shit schools. It’s not hard.

Brutal loss, and you could see it coming. Just horrendous half court defense. No other way to say it. So many open looks with VERY little effort from Utah. Really basic shit. Marsh is no defensive stalwart, but Keller was awful, and I don't think his offensive flashes offset what a good hard Marsh foul might have done to the game. That's another thing-- all our fouls were vaginal in nature. Not that they were ticky tack (some were), but foul a man if you're going to foul him.

Cam disappeared completely in the second half. He was Ginger Jordan in the first half, and me in the second half. Confounding.

Three games in and there is room to make noise in league play, but that seems contingent on a transfer and Monsanto. Otherwise, NIT is the best we can hope for. Sucks for the guys, sucks for Forbes.

I expected to lose this game, but Wake being Wake, we lost it in the most Wake way possible. I want to throw up.
Because they weren't fouls.

Keller doesn't present an inside scoring threat that Marsh does. He can also set a much bigger screen then Keller.

I mean Charleston Southern would beat the fuck out of Vanguard so I don't see why it's better to play Vanguard

Forbes ceiling is fringe bubble team. Second four out. I can’t do this anymore.

It does suck that Carr ended up in foul trouble and didn’t get his money’s worth, as they say, on a single foul.
