...and most of those 6 roads wins were Collin's sophomore year.
3/6 of them were the John Collins year. Also the teams were Pitt (x2), ND, NCST, VT, and BC. Not exactly an ACC gauntlet. And the VT win was followed by losing to them in the ACCT about 2 weeks later

Were most of those guys vocal about how Manning was the driving coaching force behind their development? Based on what I saw him do at Wake, I still struggle to believe that he should get as much credit as he does for his assistant coaching at Kansas.

Regardless of that though, he was utterly horrendous at most everything that had to do with being a head coach. To begin to give you a picture of it, he went 6-49 on the road in ACC games over his coaching span at Wake.
do we really want to have this conversation during Thanksgiving vibe week? We are all thankful he's gone.

Our Thanksgiving is turning into an open invite for local friends who aren’t doing something with family. Up to 14 people now so a mild amount of panic in our household this morning.

Sounds like you're going to need a bigger Tofurkey.

By way of an update, I was uninvited to my parents house this week for Thanksgiving, so I am going to stay home and do some bird watching and go kayaking with friends.
Uninvited? What’s going on?

I can’t stop thinking about that rose colored Kansan Danny manning post. Dear god he is in the conversation for worst P5 head coach of all time. Of all time!

trying to figure out what our actual Thanksgiving day will look like. The meal is at the Grove Park at 12:30 so what after that? Don't really wanna hang out in my in-laws' room, and nowhere else is open. maybe we can go to the indoor pool. but they're not exactly the sit around and drink and watch football kinda crowd. hopefully we just hang til like 4:30 then we can head home.

spa day?

or just sit by the fire in the lobby and booze

There may be some merit to him being a good big-man position coach and absolute shit at all other aspects of coaching (recruiting, strategy, practices, in-game management, media, etc.). If I recall, JC did credit him with helping him improve his offensive skills on the block.

i'm pretty excited to have just me and mrs diggs for thanksgiving. going to head up to the cabin, get a fire going for 5 days, watch football and movies, read, eat, drink. no NOISE other than the dog

I’m in the midst of an extended run of social and holiday activities thanks to the wife. Not good for an introvert and I’m already feeling worn out before things even really ramp up.

also p sure big dan is writing his own wikipedia entry; this is the Maryland section:

In 2021, Manning joined the coaching staff of his former Kansas teammate Mark Turgeon at Maryland. After Turgeon stepped down as head coach on December 2, 2021, Manning was named Interim Head Coach. Maryland finished the season 15-17 with seven quad 1 & 2 wins, four top 25 wins after playing 18 games vs teams in the 2022 NCAA Tournament. Maryland finished first in the Big Ten in both free throws made (456) and free throw percentage (.760), while ranking third in free throws attempted (600). The Terrapins were 13-1 when leading with 5:00 minutes to play, with its one loss of the season coming at No. 3 Purdue. They were also 10-4 when out-rebounding their opponent on the season.
