2023 Carolina Panthers thread - HOF Julius Peppers

Is there any scenario where the Panthers could currently have:

HC: Steve Wilks
QB: Stroud (or Levis)
RB: McCaffrey
WR: DJ Moore

It's not quite Jimmy Johnson/Aikman/Emmitt Smith/Irvin --- but that seems a whole lot better than the current mess.

You don't have to use a football scholarship for someone who isn't on the football team anymore.
Are you suggesting Wake needed a deal for Rusty's last semester as a basketball player? Otherwise I'm not sure your point.

I guess if they traded Burns for those 2 firsts

Yeah. They could have just not made any moves and drafted Levis. Hell, they could have had Jalen Carter and traded up into the late 1st to get Levis.

Sig, I'm saying what I said above. It was fun at the time, but looking back it was nuts that a key player on a national championship contender basketball team was slinging 50+ passes for a losing football team.

maybe not crazier than charlie ward

You’d think if there’s any poster who could relate to Tepper assuming expertise in one niche field translates to expertise in ALL fields, it’d be 2&2

I was reading this sentence and thought it was going to be about someone else until I got to the end and it said "2&2"

correct - so it's crazy that he was also playing basketball

Okay, wasn't sure what you meant. But at some point he figured out he wanted to be a professional basketball player, so it made sense that he continued to play basketball. I'm still not sure how LaRue had an NBA career.

I mean, not when he was the starting QB. Ain't no way Rusty was quitting football.

Julius Peppers had a double double (21 points 11 boards) in the 2001 NCAAT, was key player on a Final 4 UNC team, and a year and half later was the 2nd overall pick in the 2002 NFL draft.

truly bizarre that rusty had a better nba career than childress
