Steve Forbes credibility watch

I was there tonight, and it was at least double as loud as the joel has been since the Teague days. And it wasn't even close to full.

Anyone who is doubting Steve Forbes at this point is an absolute fucking moron. He's brought us back, we are still building. I am extremely frustrated to lose road games, but it was 1 game. We have plenty of other chances. He has atleast this and next for an NCAA berth before we should even begin the discussion.

i mostly agree - i think what is troubling folks are the same issues consistently emerge year after year. soft on D, loose with the ball, O stalls out in big moments, etc. it's funny how the book is out on Wake both in hoops and football. play physical, get in our face and we will wilt. play run and gun flag football / rec hoops with us and we can be dangerous.

Mostly agree, we gotta go more than 6-7 deep. Them speeding us up getting our guys to use energy getting up court, and now we're a little burned out and only have 15 seconds to go on the shot clock before we start moving the ball around we just panic. We hit some shots at points last night, but never really made good runs, esp 2nd half. Too many late in the clock shots hurts.

Building to what? This is about as good a starting 5 as I expect him to have here. Understand that our program bottomed out after the last two coaches but people on this board talk about making the tournament as if it’s the Final Four. It’s a routine accomplishment for many programs. We certainly have enough talent to do it. If it doesn’t happen this year that’s reason to be very concerned.

Play physical, get in our faces.

That’s the book on WF in soccer as well. There is definitely a theme.

You think that you're going to find someone better equipped to bring in talent in this day and age than we have in Forbes? With what has happened here over the last 15 years? Good fucking luck.

Realistically Forbes is as good a coach as we will attract these days. He is a slight upgrade over Keatts, but there are a lot of similarities— both are good recruiters and motivators who get their kids to play hard and give them a lot of freedom on the offensive end— at the expense of often not so smart play.

I may be wrong, but I think WRS is saying Forbes HAS brought in talent sufficient enough that making the field of 68 is not just a reasonable expectation, but a minimum expectation.

Yes. He has clearly brought in real talent and it’s exciting to watch our team play again. That hasn’t translated to anything particularly noteworthy…yet. And this isn’t exactly the glory days of the ACC.

I’m really not understanding the over-defensiveness of some posters supporting Forbes. At the end of the day he is a coach with -zero- NCAA tournament appearances. My loyalty and fandom lays with Wake Forest athletics, not with any 1 particular coach. The notion that Forbes is above criticism, because “he is the best coach we could find” is pathetic. Just go ahead and say you are satisfied winning 20 games a season and don’t care about post season accomplishments.
