MBB Game 17: @ NC State -- Tuesday 7 pm ACCN

This team is very talented but it all really boils down to the careless turnovers and foul trouble in these losses. Need to be able to contest jump shots without fouling. Reid needs to be playing around 28 mins and Sallis around 32. Losing them for long stretches like last night was brutal.
agree with this. Boopie was very tired last night toward the end and really made some uncharacteristic turnovers. Reid has to be smarter as does Hunter. That being said their defense was very tough the last several minutes and need to credit them. Hard for us to get a decent shot off before the shot clock. Refs sucked again. Every year they get worse. No consistency whatsoever.

Boopie was just falling all over the court. Kept tripping over himself, falling, and losing the ball

We won games against Miami and BC thanks to in-game coaching plays late in the game. That's just in the last 4 games.
So, we won a home game against Miami and limped home in the stretch to beat freaking BC on the road and that's some kind of evidence he's a great coach?

We won games - that's the goal of sports. He drew up plays that literally won the game with under a minute left, so I was using that to argue against the person saying he cannot in-game coach.

Some of y'all are insane.

Yep. They were pressuring him the whole second half. Needed an inside post presence down the stretch to give Boopie a break. Thought Reid had a couple of good looks in the second half, one of which was a pretty turnaround that he made.

Still waiting for evidence that he is "one of the best coaches in the country," other then he brought some good players in through the portal?

i would argue this is mostly about marsh and kellers incompetence.

don’t want to be hyperbolic and don’t think it explains the entire performance, but marsh destroyed our offense as others have pointed out.

Any update on Monsanto? Feel like his return will inject some much needed energy into the offense.

Last night’s second half sucked for sure. He called timeouts exactly when he needed to. We played terribly and he said as such and took the blame.

So many times this season we’ve made big adjustments and played much better in the second half than the first. Yes, yesterday sucked and wasn’t one of those. Still, we have one of the best coaches in the country that we should be far more worried about leaving for a better job than trying to get rid of. Just absurd.
Our fans are generally fucking stupid when it comes to the game-by-game hot takes regarding Forbes. It's annoying as shit and needs to stop.

It's one thing if we had redacted or Danny out there, but Forbes clearly knows what he's doing. He has deficiencies like most coaches, but he's our guy and he will get us where we want to go.

I want the tourney as bad as anyone, but being on the bubble is a 180 from where we were the dumpster fire of 10 years leading up to him.

Grass isn't always greener, people. Enjoy the ride. We will win a couple big games this year. This season isn't over. It isn't even halfway over. Let's go!

Yeah I knew we were going to flop weakly when Boopie drove to the foul line, did not bother to look to his left and see a WIDE OPEN Carr in the corner for 3, and instead did that little jump up, oops, come all the way back down pass - that's a travel/turnover play. Forbes called a timeout and immediately started dropping F-Bombs. Assistant coaches were literally pointing at wide open dude in the corner.

Forbes cannot go out there and play the game, but VOCAL Carr(?) and VOCAL Hildreth(?) and Reid I suppose, need to pull a Duke (sorry) and huddle up and get it together when we are up 60-51. Maybe that is when I knew we were toast.

We fouled them at 60-51 with like 6:35 to go and I was thinking "I've never heard of this guy on the line because he is not any good, but they are 100% making all of their free throws down the stretch" (didn't Carr a good shooter choke brick 2 FT? late in game - senior leadership choke) and thus the crowd will get excited as it will be a 7 point game with 6:35 to go and we will CHOKE. Shazamm, we did.

NC State has no talent other than Burns, but they simply out-hustled, outplayed, played to win late and bullied us and we pulled an emotionally unfocused Weak Forest out there.

Culture!

12-6 looks shitty, compared to 13-5.

AGREED. Such ridiculous takes as soon as we lose lol this is the best we've had it in years and it's only gonna go up from here.

Yeah, I mean we are all guilty of being reactionary and impulsive when it comes to our Deacs, but come on. It reminds me of a teenager not getting their way and making every single small deal a HUGE deal because they can't control their emotions.

1. Jason Shay, who's their playcaller/OC, lost his mind on the bench because of this play.

2. There was a lot of hero ball from the two guards not named Hunter last night.

3. 20-game ACC schedule (hopefully will be back to 18 in due time).

Luckily after Saturday, the team should be 13-5.

don’t want to be hyperbolic and don’t think it explains the entire performance, but marsh destroyed our offense as others have pointed out.

And destroyed our defense.

As bad as Keller can look at times, he at least looks like he is PART of our motion on offense, and occasionally drains a random 3-pointer. Forbes also keeps praising him for "getting his hands on a lot of balls. I guess he only had 3 rebounds. I need to watch the tape."

Correct Steve - I am sure you see from the tape that he usually, not always, but usually boxes out, then has short arms, no vertical, and no ability to actually go GRAB and secure the rebound with 2 hands.

He tips it around, ALMOST grabs it, gets his hands on it...whew... ALMOST...Keller is like the anti-Tim Duncan, who Odom taught and he learned on his own how to release off of his box out and go CLAIM that rebound and pull it into his chest with 2 hands. He was also Tim Duncan (duh).

I'd much rather Forbes say: "stats show Keller only played 8 minutes, but he GRABBED 4 important rebounds/possessions for us in those 8 minutes. And that 3 he hit was HUGE."
