Utah and Colorado Skiing

Don't they have phones ? The Slopes app is pretty decent for GPS and keeps track of your activity on the mountain for the ret of your life.
I was also going suggest Slopes, but then looked at the photo @leftcoastdeac posted and realized the kids were too young for phones. Back in the days of very crappy service on most mountains and Sprint/Nextel, we got a cheap extra Nextel phone with the beep beep walkie talkie to be able to communicate with kids, but that’s obviously gone the way of the dodo.

If they’re too young for phones and LCD can’t keep up, the only solution is for him to take a lesson.

What a fun weekend! Conditions at Winter Park were really good for the most part and we had a blast as a family.

The kids are getting pretty adventurous with their skiing and hitting some terrain I’m not super comfortable in so I’m wondering if anyone has recommendations for radios or other devices so we can stay in touch? I might even stick air tags in their jackets for our next trip in two weeks, unless someone else has any ideas.

I've used the Rocky Talkies in the past and have found them to be a very solid option. They generally aren't full mountain coverage depending on which mountain you're at and the variables, but I'd say it's pretty close.

Yeah, I'm working on it. They really want to start skiing trees and I haven't felt ready to do that. I guess I better figure out how to do it!

I like these a lot, in theory, but the price is pretty steep: https://www.okmilo.com/en-us/
Winter Park has incredible tree skiing. You gotta get on that. Plenty of trees that aren't steep at all too, including very near where your photo was taken.

Yeah, top of high lonesome - one of the best views on the mountain IMO.

We got a free day pass to PCMR/Canyons for Super Bowl Sunday. Hope the game sucks

well it's not going to suck when it STARTS so just enjoy that you're skiing and know that we'd gladly trade places with you and GTFOOH with this "dilemma"

20 years ago we used Motorola walkie talkies that worked pretty well.

We also went to ski school when we went out west which was great. We got to hang out with kids our age and basically had a guide. My parents got time without kids.

Snow mass is awesome. If I were doing the vacation thing for skiing with family. Snowmass is where I’d go. Two Rivers I believe is the name of the far side run. Long long double blues that are steep enough to maintain great speed the whole way. lgreta back with the new dusting they’re gettng.should be good. .

I have to disagree. I have yet to find a mountain that has everything quite like Telluride does. Yes, Jackson has better skiing, Whistler better snow, etc. etc., but when it comes to the whole package, nothing beats Telluride, especially with kids or beginner/intermediate skiers.

Do you have both a Telluride pass and an Ikon or how are you working it this season?

We did Snowmass for our honeymoon because I am a very average/blue skiier, and yeah, that stretch of blues over on the left side of the mountain was pretty much where I was 80% of the time, taking the elk camp gondola/lift to the top to start the day and then chaining into two creeks. Was definitely a very approachable mountain for a west coast rookie like myself.

Once the kids are old enough to do ski school we're gonna plan another trip out there.

Did a kid free day on the mountain yesterday thanks to grandparents. It was awesome but legs were dead by the end of the day

Today is our family skiing day. My 7 year old’s ski instructor took him up to the summit twice on Wednesday so now I need to upgrade our tickets for today because he will not be satisfied with only doing the beginner lifts.

my 5 year old came back from ski school and said “skiing is the funnest thing I’ve ever done in my whole life”
