I haven't visited this thread since the wake of the Highland Park July 4th parade mass shooting which I was very lucky to survive. Had I sat down a half block from where I landed, I could easily have been killed. I bring this up again just as a reminder that everyone of us is vulnerable to the epidemic of gun violence in our country. No matter where you live, how armed you may be at any given time, or what your politics.

There's no reasonable argument for the mass availability of weapons of war in our society. How anyone can disagree is impossible for me to comprehend.
 
Wonder how many of those drunken nfl stadium brawls that go viral every Sunday would end like this if you didn’t have to pass through security going into the stadium.

I think the reason people are jokingly responding to you is 1) a sense of hopelessness on gun violence, and 2) your question seems strange. With 1000s of people in the vicinity, we are lucky more than 22 people weren’t wounded when these fucking wackos pulled out their freedom fighting death machines out and started shooting.

We were in Italy last spring and went to a soccer match. I had been before, but my wife hadn't and immediately remarked how crazy it was that there were no metal detectors and the most minimal security entering the stadium. 60k people and the only security was making sure your name matched the one on your ticket. Then we got to talking about how fucked we are culturally that our default was to look at something like this and think about how it would be an extremely vulnerable target for a mass shooting situation.
 
Which is all to say it's really sad that this is kind of the default American frame of mind when around large crowds

Yeah Americans are screwed up. Even hooligans don’t need guns to solve their problems.
 
Lol, a dude I know went to a not-to-be-named lower level English soccer game and went in with the supporters group. A guy had an actual sword in his pants.

but it sure seems like just a good ol fashioned gun battle in the middle of a crowd. who knows how many shots after that first one, but if there are 2+ people going off I can see how that would injure 20 people.

It's a bit jarring to think 'this isn't even one of the bad ones'
