A Reminder why Bzz going nowhere anytime soon...

why were we shipped to Cleveland?

UNC?

Well, the Nutpunch caused us to lose CP3 for our first ACC tourney game which we promptly lost (precursor to the following year). We still should have had a #1 seed that year, but Washington jumped us for that spot. We got completely hosed that year.

I remember the nut punch and the throat slash and.....

:panda:

I'm not comparing Bzd to Crean. What I'm saying is the comparison is fair. I don't expect bzd to have Wake at #7 in the country next year. I think Crean is a better program coach than Bzd. That doesn't mean we can't hold him to a very similar standard. Indiana is a better job than Wake.

But we should be a winning program next year and a ranked and Sweet 16 team the year after. If we aren't, then we are underachieving and/or Bzd isn't getting the job done.

So, I hold Bzd to a hire standard. He was brought in to win ACC championships and get to a Final 4. He wasn't brought in simply to take the kids to the CIA and be okay.

That, at least from my perspective, is the difference between the "bzz-inners" and the bzz-outers. The inners look at the roster, see what's coming in next year (i.e., Bzd did really really well recruiting for 2012 all things considered) and say, by the middle of next season, we will know whether the program is moving in the right direction. The bzz-outers, at least as it appears to me, were waving the towel on day 1 and threw it in after our first home loss to east bumfuck u. Once you throw in the towel you don't pick it back up.

Couple that with what we know about Wellman and it is like I'm watching a fanbase run amok and like an idiot I have chosen to try and un-mok you which is just a fucking waste of my time.

Quoted for posterity. No way on God's green earth we are 2 years away from making the Sweet Sixteen. Cocaine is a hell-of-a-drug.

It has thus been decided. We now know what we need to do.

.... on second thought. Wake sucking ass in basketball is far better than a life where Kevin Costner runs riot. Let's keep the green Earth.

For now.

It cracks me up that some of the biggest Bzzzz defenders have set up these crazy expectations for the next couple of years. It will be funny seeing the 180s

What crazy expectations? [2 years from now]

But to be fair, I had similar expectations at one point because a good coach should have such an arc of progress IMO...like the oft compared to Crean. I just don't see it here. The best case scenario now is the NCAAs maybe in 3 years when the big class guys are juniors.

I think the Bzz defenders are still in slam Dino mode, too afraid to admit that we're now in much worse shape when they thought Dino was the bottom.

I'm not in slam Dino mode. I fully expect to be a bubble team next year a d a sweet 16 team travis' senior year. If not I won't be on the bzd bandwagon. That's not a 180 if I'm saying it now chris. It's aggressive realism. You lOok at the roster and experience level this year and 15 wins seems to be the ceiling. You do the same the next two years and boom bang bust. It's sink or swim

Th question I have to ask posters like you chris is if we make the sweet 16 in two years will you be honestly happy or secretly bummEe to be wrong

I would be thrilled. I hate being one of the worst major college teams in division one.

I was happy when we beat VT and happy that we played pretty well against Maryland. This complete trainwreck against State was a real bummer.

I think you are putting alot of faith into a good but not great recruiting class that has never played one college game.

None of this matters. Whether Buzz is fired this year, next year, or the year after is really the only debate. There is just no question at all that he will not be here long term.

I'm just having a hard time imagining having to see that frickin' golf clap of his for 2-3 more years.

Secretly bummed no doubt. Boys have laid down their bets and are stuck with them.

I would love to be completely wrong about Mr. [Redacted]'s coaching ability. History, however, suggests that I am spot on unfortunately.

Would you guys characterize a winning record and an NIT appearance this year a stepping stone on the path to real improvement? That is still within the realm of possibility.

An NIT appearance is not in the realm of possibility this year. Get real.

How the hell do you think we are going to make the NIT this year? We have a much better chance at not winning another game.

I will gladly eat my crow in 2 years if Buzz is in the Sweet 16. However, there is no way in hell that happens. I firmly believe that and that's why Buzz should resign.

If it doesn't happen*, then what's in it for you? Or will you be happy regardless.

*because it won't

Unlikely, but not impossible. The only almost "guaranteed" losses on the schedule are the Duke and UNC games. Virginia plays everyone close, despite their high ranking.

They'll just move the goalposts. Notice how 15 wins moved from the minimum to avoid disappointment to the ceiling for this team.

Not this one. A Coach is responsible for an entire program. In year 2, if there is a gaping hole NOT due to injury, then you're responsible. It was Bzd and staff that decided that they were content with Carson, Ty, Tabb, Nikita, Green, and McKie at the 4 and 5 going into next year.

I expect 15 wins next year. I'll be disappointed with anything less.
