Official OGBoards Golf Thread

$24 'hot special' at Spring Creek is back active for certain tee-times. I've booked one spot in the 3:10 group & would love to tee it up with somebody from the boards if anybody's schedule allows...

Damnit dude, stop golfing mid-day in the middle of the week. Making everyone jealous...

I charged my camera this afternoon just for you.

$24 with cart. I'd be willing to bet there weren't more than 20 people on the course. I really just don't understand.

Yep. The same tee-time (3:10) for tomorrow is $22 including cart.

If anybody wants to play... I could be convinced to head back out there.

Playing Oak Hollow on Friday for $17...anybody played there before?

Fun course, definately worth the $17.

You have to try to drive the 6th green (with a second ball if you are too chicken to try with your "real" ball). It is a 420 yard (tips), 359 (mixed) par-4 that doglegs left around a lake.

Word. I'm playing in a two-man CC tourney out there on June 2-3 so I want to see the course. Is anybody interested in meeting up to play there on Friday (around 12)?

Apparently there was only one spot left so it's a one person deal for tomorrow. I wonder if I'm gonna get paired up with some other people or just play by myself.

Also, $17 with a cart seems like a really good deal for the way this course looks. I'm pretty excited.

I also haven't ever played in a 2 mans Captain Choice before but it should be fun.

I went to hit balls the other day at the course in my community (Eagles Landing) and it apparently has been bought out by "Arnold Palmer Golf Management". Well they are running a deal for 29.99 a month.

unlimited Range Balls
no greens fee 17 cart fee unlimited golf after 2pm
free clinics
discounts on merchandise
free dozen callaway warbird balls
one draft beer per day

I was even thinking about joining the club last year but didn't want to pay the 1400 initiation fee along with 250 a month for my family. Heck the Range plan for one year was 600 bucks so this was a no brainer since i typically hit a couple bags of balls per week at 7.00 per bag.

lol...strange deal to say the least.

The tips on that hole have been closed for 7 or 8 years now due to a nasty snake infestation.

Oak Hollow is a really fun course and has a lot of the flair you'd expect from a Pete Dye design.

You are going to see some stupid low scores in that tournament.

It's flighted. Costs $120 per team to play (plus green fees) and the top 5 scores in each flight payout. 1st place in each flight gets like $1000.

I think our goal is to break par each day. We are about an 8 and a 12 handicap.

I'm playing Fowler's Mill on Sunday. Really looking forward to it.

Thought I'd see if anyone here has some advice for me. I'm toying with joining a club about 15 mins from my house (live in Dallas suburbs). Here's what I know about the deal:
$5000
Unlimited golf (no cart fees)
No beverage minimums
1 free guest pass per month
Normal public rate is $125/round
Free water/gatorade available on course (possibly some food too).

I don't know any members, so would probably be playing/joining groups as a single and occasionally having friends out, though I think many would be hesitant at that price tag. I'm meeting the sales rep out there this Sunday. What should I be asking about? Availability of tee times? Pace of play? # members?

Here's the link (maybe) if anyone cares Old American

Ask if they have any times where it is mandatory to ride carts.

Ask for a history of assessments over the last 5 years.

Is the $5k an initiation fee or an annual membership fee? Either way it sounds like a decent high end club. There are tons of deals cheaper than that here in NC, and I suspect the TX market is just as cheap.

In general something like 75% of all private clubs are losing money right now. Many are on the edge of bankruptcy. In this golf market, I'm not sure it's worth it to pay any sort of initiation fee for anything other than the best private clubs.

I'm pretty happy about the membership I'm doing in Richmond. Played it a month ago with NoVa and barrpet and it's definitely a walkable course and only about 15/20 minutes away from both where I live and where I'll be working.
