Adam Sandler's new movie flops

I liked Billy Madison, Big Daddy, The Waterboy, and The Wedding Singer back in the day. Then I graduated from high school and stopped going to Adam Sandler movies.

I watched the first 20 minutes or so of Funny People and then turned it off. Brutal.

I thought Funny People was going to be interesting comedy about the lives of young comedians trying to break into the business juxtaposed against the life of a bitter old comedian who never quite dealt with the cost of fame.

It wasn't that. Aziz and Aubrey were good in it though. The James Taylor bit was hilarious.

BIG DADDY is defs a top 5 sandler flick along with:

Billy Madison
Happy Gilmore
Wedding Singer

and I can't think of another to make a SOLID top 5.

I liked Funny People. Of course, I'm not one of the morons who just assumed it was a comedy and then couldn't get past that stupid assumption.

Funny People and Punch Drunk Love were not "Adam Sandler movies," but rather Judd Apatow and Paul Thomas Anderson movies, respectively.

Yeah, I'd exclude those two, and say that my favorites of his are Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, The Wedding Singer, and The Waterboy. Mr. Deeds and Big Daddy (Deeds especially) have some hilarious moments, but they are the beginning of Sandler losing his edge. Of all the recent stuff, I liked Just Go With It the best, and that's mainly because Nick Swardson was fucking hilarious in it. Punch Drunk Love is the best thing he's ever done, but that movie is in an entirely different category from his other stuff. Funny People I find very enjoyable, but as with Apatow's other stuff, it's too long, and it loses some serious steam as it turns to more of a drama in its last 20 or so minutes.

I've heard That's My Boy is the most outlandish and insane movie he's ever done, and the cast (Sandler, Samberg, Swardson, Forte) is pretty nice, so I'll probably go check it out at a matinee or something. As far as flopping at the box-office, the only way Sandler can keep churning out the hits is if he stays in the PG-13 realm, and, after he makes Grown Ups 2, which comes out next year I believe, he needs to just fucking make Happy Gilmore 2: The Senior Tour happen. As long as it is funny, people will flock to it.

I don't understand grown ups two. that just seems like an excuse for all of them to hang out.

You must really like Nick Swardson, because he was worse than terrible in Just Go With It. Of all the Happy Madison actors, he is by far the worst and least funny, including Rob Schneider.

grandma's boy is probs the best happy madison movie and swardson is awesome in it

I don't know why I find Swardson so funny, just something about him I think is hilarious.
