Official 2023-24 NBA Season Thread - Games 3 and 4 weekend (8 games)

I don't pay close attention to Hornets, but saw their "Re!magine Spectrum Center" email this morning and this seemed interesting: Additional Seating – An additional 2,500 lower-level seats will be added in 2025, allowing many more fans to be closer to the action. All seats within the arena bowl...

Conference Expansion: Stanford, California and SMU Join the ACC

Crashed a tailgate this weekend hosted by a friend of a friend who claims to be donating the big bucks to Tigers athletics. The location and amenities of his tailgate made that seem possible. Of course he brings up Clemson leaving the ACC, claiming on good authority it would be announced...

Wake +21 @ Clemson - Deacs blow another shot at a Death Valley win

I've been talked into driving down to the game since the kickoff time is tailgate friendly. Friends are Clemson alum/fans and already have their tickets, so not even going to bother asking them for ticket advice. I'm fine just getting in but how is the view from the upper deck? Any advice for...

The High Cost To Watch Sports

Sports bars doing sports on TV legally get raked over the coals on pricing too, so making it "easier" for them to get their content legitimately is a key part of keeping that revenue stream strong. "Public view" bar and restaurants can't just sign up for a standard cable or streaming package...

Cutting the Cord (Ditching TV, not having a baby)

Speed is set on the modem. As long as the router you plug into the modem can handle the max speed it doesn't matter where you get it. That said, unless you want the upload speed boost ultra at 500 is probably indistinguishable from regular tier at 400.

    Disney World Tips and Tricks

Got my final Splash Mountain in Sunday. Lady Jonas got hers in yesterday, ironically it wasn't planned to be the last but the ride broke down on her final attempt. Ride is way overdue for an overhaul but will miss the song. Sad to see a classic go and in such poor form at the end.

    Basketball Ticket Exchange

Was thinking of taking the in-laws who are Hoos fans this weekend then discovered tickets aren't next to free - are we actually filling the lower bowl nowadays? Sad to admit I haven't really tuned in to a game yet this year.

    Disney World Tips and Tricks

After watching Disney Dan do a park open to close (or whenever he hit the "record" for most rides in a day) gave me a new appreciation for it. I don't think I've been on since, but every time we walk by I think I should go ride it for an hour or two to relax.

    Disney World Tips and Tricks

Be ready for high crowds around race weekends. Also if you want a decent selection of run merchandise get to the expo as early in the week as possible, by Friday they usually are running out of things already (although hopefully part of that was the logistics nightmare last year that may be...

    Disney World Tips and Tricks

I think rider swap is available on any ride, we've definitely used it on rides where the kids are tall enough to ride but one isn't going to (e.g. evenings when they're sleeping, afraid of the ride, random bad mood). Look for a cast member or two at or near the entrance to the ride holding a...

    Disney World Tips and Tricks

Fast passes are no more, now it's lightning lane via Genie+ or individual purchase. We're passholders and go often so we'll just ride something else if our first choice is too busy, but if you're really set on riding a specific ride then buying a pass can make sense. Genie+ is worth reading up...

    Disney World Tips and Tricks

Spacing out days is definitely the way to go if you can. Also don't recommend trying to do open to close, especially the first day. Take a break in the afternoon, it's busiest then and the mental break really helps. Save a fast pass and ride Mine Train or Space Mountain just before the...

    Disney World Tips and Tricks

Don't waste your money on a park hopper, just buy a third day if you're looking to spend that money and aren't hugely time constrained. Also wouldn't advise trying to do the parks from open to close, it's tough on adults and really wears you down with kids. Take a break during/after lunch time...

Vaccine or negative test requirement for bball games starting next week

We missed the entire regular season but now may try making the NIT on Wednesday. Can anyone verify if at home covid tests count for the negative test requirement at the Joel? Feel like I should leave my wife home as punishment for being stupid, but guessing I'll give in as usual.

Tron is very cool. Rode it in Shanghai, quite possibly my favorite Disney ride (but I'm not a Star Wars fan so Rise of the Resistance isn't quite the big deal it is to most).

    Disney World Tips and Tricks

We got to epcot around 3 on Saturday and watched people streaming out with two Figment buckets each. Almost all of them were middle aged adults without kids. I can't figure out why people are willing to pay even $25 for these things, let alone a huge premium on eBay.

GATOR BOWL VS TEXAS A&M, psyche RUTGERS

We're still optimistic about going, but haven't bought tickets or booked a hotel. Assume we'll do that on the drive down Thursday, hopefully at this point news will leak about an outbreak by then if it's going to happen.
