Not to belittle that accomplishment, but the only schools that trail Wake in ACC championships that were in the ACC as long as Wake are Clemson and UVA.

Wake has never been great in the post season. Even in the Duncan years, aside from the one elite 8 run, the teams underperformed. The 2004 team made the sweet 16 but nearly lost in the 1st round, then barely beat a 12 seed in the 2nd round. I don't need to rehash the 2005 or 2009 postseasons...

The [redacted] hire really changed the trajectory of the program. Wake made the tournament from 2001-2005, then from 2008-2010 with down years after Duncan and CP3. Wake could've made a much better hire in 2010 after Dino was let go. What Wellman was thinking at that time is still a mystery.

I agree with this take. I think people are being unrealistic that Wake can land a big name coach or there will be a line out the door to take the job. The ACC is on its last legs and Wake could be regulated to a mid-major, whether it's in the ACC or in another conference, and no big coach is...

It didn't seem to matter in previous years. The ACC always performs well in the tournament yet each year the media continues to tell us how bad of a conference it is compared to the mighty SEC.

I believe no team ranked 41 or higher in the NET has ever missed the NCAAT. Sure, it's possible Wake falls back into the 40s before the end of the season, but as of now, there no reason for the experts to have Wake not in the tournament after last night.
