    Wake Forest Football Recruiting

I agree that Clapp was the weak spot on the line, but we saw from Vaughan / Russell / Elmonus that the depth behind him wasn't any good, either. OT recruiting has been poor and that room has hurt from early attrition, too. The pipeline on the interior is much better, but the tackles ... woof.

That's surprising considering Carr lit them up last season.

We moved up 1 in KenPom. NET hasn't updated. And there's plenty of chance BC ends up top 75 before season end

Peter Millar is better when you're 50+ and hiding a gut. Not a huge fan of the fit. I've liked the cut on Travis Mathew / Rhoback / Johnny O a lot better.

Pro Hoops Deacs - Jake LaRavia with 89 points in last three games of the season

A 7-footer (and former 5*) always has NBA potential. Boopie, like Ty, still struggle to get on the NBA's radar at his size, no matter how well he plays.

I thought he had a lot of candid comments addressing the bigger questions on this thread. Good read: As mentioned, Morin and Key were a 1-in, 1-out prop. They would've kept both, but each felt that they wanted to be the man in their last year and both felt like slot was their best position...

The constraints are real. Again, it's a two-step process: 1. You have to have 60 credits from Wake to graduate from Wake. This makes it really tough if you are transferring with 60-120 credits. Could you sell a kid with ~68 credits to sacrifice some / take extra classes to catch up? Maybe...

Doesn't feel like a loss of 2 starters at receiver because you move Morin back to the slot and get Donovan back. You're basically down 1 starting WR. For Carson and Mustapha, I don't blame any player who gets themselves on the NFL's radar for taking that shot. That's what almost every player...

Also, we've heard that Wake honors your scholarship as a four year commitment. But after that, if you still have eligibility, whether or not you continue on scholarship is up to the coaches. This likely applies to guys like Ranson and Elmonus this offseason. These guys aren't risking their...

I believe the number, I'm just not sure its a problem of the system. Again, looking at the Wake transfers, I don't know that Kelly or Hoilman would care. They didn't have scholarships to lose and have already graduated. I'm sure they're putting out feelers to see if they can get grad school paid...

Not cynical, but I think the point is only looking at the top end players. I think NIL money doesn't apply to at least 50% of the portal. Anecdotally looking at Wake's 14 entries, I think 3 could get NIL money (Grimes, Ellison, K. Williams), 9 are likely transferring down / looking for PT...

Other concern with Kern is durability. Him getting hurt against VT had a huge impact on the season, and he's still rail thin.

And we went heavy on DL in the 2023 class. Tyler Walton and Kerrington Lee were big recruits at edge and seemed to pop up in the camp reports. Ka'Shawn Thomas was a 315 lb NT coming in. Chris Marable is another DT. Would love to see 1-2 guys jump to the rotation from those ranks.

Well, first and foremost, Ashburn isn't "rural VA". It's a DC suburb.

Agreed. He seemed like a good possession receiver like a Bachman or Surratt - I'm not good with the letters, but I think that's our X? Definitely not a super athlete, either as a burner or a jumper, like Perry / Banks. But I think he'd be a good complement to a more-athletic Z. The drops would...

I mean, he had ~350 yards and 4 TDs as a fringe starter. Can't imagine they didn't see him as a starter next season, with the likely attrition of (at least some of) Morin, Banks, Greene, and Key. He didn't have the year we expected, but was much more impactful than Nolan Groulx, for example.
