2019 NFL Season Thread Year 100. Superbowl LIV Winner: Kansas City Chiefs

lol, enjoy that suspension, Myles Garrett.

He should honestly be suspended the rest of this year. He literally tried to assault Mason Rudolph.

Totally agreed. And this is after he has been flagged numerous times for late hits and dangerous plays (and knocking out another QB)

Inexcusable in any game.

Baker was right in his postgame interview - this stupidity is only going to come back and bite the Browns in the ass down the line.

Yeah, he's gone for at least 4 games, maybe the rest of the year. Hasn't he racked up like $100+K in roughing fines already this year? Jesus, dude.

Arrest for assault. Suspension for the rest of the year (Haynesworth got 5 games for stomping a player). Drug test him tonight and then often (roid rage?).

Pouncey too for kicking him on the ground, that dude may be the biggest POS in the league. Rudolph should get a few games too for kicking him in the nuts and instigating the helmet hit. Shocking that this involved a Mike Tomlin coached team though, never could have seen that coming.

Should be prosecuted for battery.

Mason probably gets fined and or one game. Pouncey a couple games for punching and kicking then Garrett for the season plus maybe a couple more next year? 6+ games?

Yeah watching it again a few times this am, Rudolph definitely tried to rip Garrett’s helmet off as they are on the ground, which seems to be why Garrett goes after his helmet.

Garrett needs a hefty suspension, but Rudolph is no saint here

You guys calling for criminal charges realize how ridiculous that sounds, right? Anything that happens after the whistle could be construed as battery with that kind of precedent.

I don't think anyone was calling for Roughned Odor's arrest after he blasted Jose Bautista in the face. Or after Nolan Ryan blew up Robin Ventura. Or the dozens of goons in hockey guilty of a dirty hit/fight. Weird.

True, but anyone that has played football and understands the weight of a helmet knows that you could literally kill someone swinging a helmet like that. Whatever happened to Garrett afterwards from Rudolph's teammates was warranted imo.

It’s not ridiculous at all. The consent for battery lies within the understood rules of the game. When that consent ends it’s fair game and even if you don’t prosecute guys for throwing punches after a play its not a “slippery slope” to prosecute for battery when a guy swings a helmet at a guy’s unprotected head seconds after the play has ended.

Rudolph tried to rip his helmet off first and kicked him in the groin. Garrett was just standing his ground.

Seriously, Garrett should/will be suspended for the year (maybe into next year?) and there is zero excuse for what he did, but Mason Rudolph is the new Grayson Allen of the NFL in my eyes.

The fact that anyone can justify what happened last night tells you just how fucked up society is in 2019. I don't care if Rudolph started anything or not. The 'he started it" argument ends in 3rd grade. As adults you gotta know rules and boundaries. He knew 100% of what he was doing when he took off his helmet and hit him in the head. That happens on the street, he's arrested for assault if not worse. This should be no different. Those that try to justify and look for the fine line between sport and real life, fuck off.

This is as bad as the Anthony McHenry assault on Steve Lepore's knee at the 2002 ACC tournament.

Uhh, the "he started it" argument is pretty much the basis of any self defense argument ever.

Not saying it applies to Garrett here, or that his actions were in any way excusable. Still think Rudolph is a Grayson Allen style bitch, though.

Never said otherwise. I totally agree
