2019 Carolina Panthers Draft Reactions

Heinicke or Allen are capable of winning, why draft Grier instead of a potential starting safety?

Why throw two seasons tanking for a prospect who might wind up not being as good as you'd hoped ?

Tua is not as good as Peyton Manning, Andrew Luck, John Elway, or even Cam Newton.

Scant evidence, especially in regard to Heinicke. He was fucking awful against the Falcons.

Allen looked good yes but that was the Saints backups, I can understand the front office not wanting to roll the dice with that and getting an excellent collegiate player with upside

Hold up. We're supposed to pair food with cigars?

Now THAT is some pretension shit.

Panthers decline 5th year option on Vernon Butler.

In case you've forgotten, Vernon Butler was our 2016 first round pick at DT. This will be his last season under his rookie deal. Hard to believe he's been here for 3 seasons.

Was hoping we could trade him (Bills or Giants prob), but this probably makes that even less likely.

Woof. Gettleman's first round pick after going to the Super Bowl. Dude has 45 tackles and 2 sacks, career.

I would guess he's still got value to us as a rotation player on his rookie contract.

That's probably the only reason he's still on the roster.

Butler was considered at reach at the time and looks much worse now.

Man, that 2016 draft was a dumpster fire. Butler in the first round followed by three straight DB's thanks to letting Norman walk for nothing, only one of which is still on the team. Good stuff.

There's no other conclusion from that draft other than G-Man got really full of himself after the Super Bowl.

I recall quotes from him around that draft basically saying mock drafting is stupid and he is smarter than anyone when it comes to this. Then Butler was the ultimate vision of that.

Obviously, Butler could still wind up being cut if he doesn't have a good camp and we find a lower cost alternative. But, at least he's a veteran and knows the system.
