2023-2024 NCAA Men's Basketball Thread

Dalton Knecht of Tennessee is playing at a national player of the year level right now. Averaging 18.5 ppg, but his last 3 games he has had 39 (UF), 36 (UGA), and 28 (Miss St).

Would have set the visiting player scoring record at the Dean Dome earlier this year as well if he hadn't injured his ankle and missed the last two minutes of the game. He had 37 at the time.

Lower bar for Sallis.

Portal add for the Vols, played for two years at UNC.... University of Northern Colorado. Good players are everywhere.

It looks that of 20 conference games, there will be 3 opportunities to move the needle. Two of them are on the road on Mondays after a Saturday game.

Not to mention that FSU and State are trending toward the double bye over us.

Miami is coming back.

LSU is up on #22 Ole Miss.

Miami just can’t do anything right. Missed 2 fts down 6 with 2 mins left.

The ACC can’t stop cannibalizing itself.

Winthrop and UNC Asheville have a big game tomorrow night. Should be a fun game to watch.

Foolishly watch the Louisville - UNC game with hope in my heart.

Even with losing to both of them, Torvik (who hates us compared to the other metrics), Wake still has a better shot at finishing in the top 4 than either one of those two.

UNC - 99.6%
Duke - 95.4%
Wake - 59%
FSU - 47.8%
State - 47.4%
Clemson - 35.1%

Everybody else under 25% (Miami has really just shot themselves in the foot the last two weeks).

Somebody has to finish 3rd and 4th!

So interestingly, there was a Twitter conversation with Torvik recently on Wake, and the reason the Deacs are lower than others, per him, is allowing some Q4 teams to stay in the game near/after halftime. Just how it factors into his metric.

Maybe FSU is actually...kind of good? Clearly they are getting better from whatever they were in December.

They have neutral site wins over UNLV (MWC !!!) and Colorado. Their only loss in ACC play was at UNC, and they led 12 with 13:00 to play (then UNC went on a 30-4 run...ouch).

FSU seems to not like rest - they have played 4 games with a week or more of rest, and they are 0-4 in those games. They have one bye remaining, so their last game with a week of rest will be at Louisville. They need to win that one.
