BB Staff: Woodberry, Ballard, & Bauman (DOBO) join from Tulsa; ChillIN

Deman says Chill has a shot at the third position but that decision will take longer than the hiring of the two assts from Tulsa.

Has anyone said who else is being considered for the position besides Childress?

Battle deserves some sort of proper send off. Probably impossible, but the dude sacrificed A LOT for Wake hoops over the years. He probably would have been our head coach 7 years if for not his wife's terminal cancer.

Well there it is.
@EvanDaniels: Randolph Childress will join Danny Manning's staff at Wake Forest as an assistant coach, according to a source.

So now we have a much less experienced staff than before with even more urgency.

Old staffs are out of touch. New staffs are inexperienced. Which is worse?

Out of touch. Definitely.

We are counting on Manning to be a high potential coach based on pedigree and his playing experience. But that is a risk.

I am excited about Wake Forest basketball again! Times will be good. Danny Manning and his new staff will get it done.

Sure it's a risk. There's no such thing as a no-risk hire, realistically.
I think it's noteworthy that our staff looks tremendously different than those of our rivals, when you consider age, playing experience, the elite level of that experience, and NC ties. Wake basketball made itself distinct through this hire and subsequent assembly of the staff. In its present condition, the one thing Wake couldn't afford to do was to fall in line and make itself look like everyone else. The staff is inexperienced, yes, but anyone worth their salt has overcome inexperience at some point. One man 'a inexperience is another man's energy.

Wellman's bb hires have been risks ever since Skip's death. At least this one has a tremendous upside.
