BBall Recruiting Thread 2k20 - Watson/Adams - Gibson/Bailey ('20) & James ('21) Gone

Isaiah Wilkins from VT just committed.

Dude averaged 4ppg for Tech last year, we are going to be terrible next year.

Replacing Chaundee with an ACC player who shoots worse and rebounds less. Definite upgrade. Can't wait to see Wilkins defensive rating drop under Manning too. Hang your hat on it.

Just another example of a guy who cannot get consistent minutes on a power conference team transferring to a lower level to get more run & to try to improve their stats as well.

The original definition of "sophomore" was "wise fool." Wilkins is a curent soph, and he is moving to play for Manning.

A transfer within conference- does that mean he has to sit out two years?

After Cameron Johnson's transfer to UNC from Pitt, there apparently is no intra-conference transfer restriction.
BTW, the last player to transfer to Wake from VT worked out fairly well for the Deacs. And no, I'm not saying Wilkins will become anything more than a role player. He had the worst 3P% of any higher volume Hokie and it's easy to see why Young told him he didn't fit well in his system.

ANother bigger guy. Good for him to come back home but we have now lost 6 guards--we need guards!

Chaundee played the 3, and occasionally the 4 under Manning. Wilkins is shorter than Chaundee, so Manning is well on his way to his recreating his highly feared 4 guard lineups don't you worry.

We have three frosh coming in and now 2 transfers plus Neath. That is 6 guards for 2 positions and leaves us with 2 players each at the 3,4,5.

Paul Long?

Next year on paper is Manning’s worst team in year 7. How the fuck is that possible?

Wilkins is probably a fine replacement for Wynn - probably a bit of an upgrade, that's good.

The real issue is once again losing a meaningful player highly unlikely to get drafted to the NBA before that player finishes his senior year and not adequately replacing that player - that now makes 4 - Mitoglou, Moore, Crawford and Brown. Life would probably be meaningfully different if these 4 had stayed til the end. This along with his inability to coach defense are far and away Manning's biggest issues.

Wilkins is objectively better than Wynn by a mile.

Points per minute are nearly identical. Wynn has more rebounds/minute and a much better FG%. Sure, Wilkins is probably a little better just because he's been better coached, but not enough to matter.

Exactly, at best an even trade, now who do we get to replace Chaundee? Hint: it is not happening unless Manning is gone
