I disagree with you

Young voters should've showed up en masse to vote for HRC b/c Trump is a monster.
That said, everyone should be able to understand why young voters wouldn't be particularly enthused ab continuing a neoliberal order that has strapped them with absurd student debt and put them into a system with massive income inequality where income growth has fallen waaaaaay behind the continued growth in productivity.
HRC tried to position herself as a change to this order, but it never really stuck and just looked like she was mooching off Bernies policies. No one believed she'd actually implement such things, and there's certainly previous with that from Obama. Especially when the impression was she didn't really believe in them
again, for all the snickering republicans and sniveling progressives: the candidate was the problem, not centrists

Centrists were the "nothing to see here" flag bearers for the last two years. It was hard to diagnose, let alone solve the problem when centrists were positive that their candidate was going to win big until the bitter, bitter end.*
*which may or may not have arrived depending on who you ask**
**will Comey save us or nah?
The first sentence is all that matters. By not showing up, there is a radically RW Supreme Court Justice who will impact young people's lives for the next thirty years. If he's successful, Trump will take healthcare from millions of young people and make what is left much more expensive. He wants privatize education, sell parks end the EPA and mouch mroe.
But you guys stayed home.
Blaming theoretical votes instead of the votes that were actually cast. Classic boomer analysis.
go ahead and run a far left candidate in 2020 and trust to the media bubble again.
you need to energize the voters bigly and/or capture middle class college educated white people who voted for Trump, for some reason.
maybe Anyone But Trump is good enough but I don't think so.
Pence is much father right than Trump.
Build the base and get out of the vote.
We don't know the candidate yet (and there are some talented people all over the left spectrum), but the DNC can get started early to avoid the catastrophic mismanagement of the 2016 election.
It's easy to blame third party voters, primary challengers, and the media in a low turnout election, but in doing so, you're bracketing the question about why it was a low turnout election in the first place.
?
Typical millennial, looking for an excuse rather than participating.
Janet Boudreau, who used to run the election-supply company Intab, designed a version with an American flag blowing in the wind in 1987. She was shocked by how many people didn't realize it was Election Day, and wanted to do something to help. "I wanted them to see people with an 'I Voted' sticker and think, 'Oh, I should do that,'" she says. For Boudreau, now 57 , the sticker was a product of coming of age during the '60s and '70s, during which time she realized just how much voting mattered. "In terms of civil rights and people protesting against the Vietnam War, we could see populism having a huge effect. Who you'd get in office to pass or kill legislation could mean life or death for some people."
hillary sucked. it was the DNC's fault, 100%
hard to know for sure, but I feel pretty strongly that if hillary doesn't run, Bernie's star doesn't shine nearly as much.
