I still don't have a great handle on what horseshoe theory is and I suspect it has very little to do with theory

Kind of just more about social media giving a voice to people who have traditionally been shut out from mass communication by old white gatekeepers. Aa lot of people are more interested in hearing from marginalized voices, which is why they get amplified.

But that also applies to the white nationalists the old white gatekeepers managed to keep on the sidelines as well.
 
Probably another thread for this, but heads have still yet to roll with the jury finding Michael Sussman not guilty. there was supposed to be some probe where heads were gonna roll (can't remember the name), but Actually Durham would cause heads to roll instead.

The way some of y'all use it, it is definitely horseshit.

The idea that seemingly oppositional ideologies share traits (whether ideological or tactical) is not, though some of that is because movements tend to label themselves in really silly ways (e.g., the Nazis were not socialists in any way, shape, or form).

The triggering is such that even making an ace Ventura joke about horseshoe theory while not actually peddling said theory brings the wrath
