Reid, Pelosi, Feinstein, etc. have been consistently losing to the GOP for two decades - it is why we are where we are.

The moderate Democratic dinosaurs need to step aside, along with Bernie, and let the Mayor Petes, AOC, etc. move the party forward.

No question. There may be legitimate disagreements on policy between the AOC and Conor Lamb wings of the party, but I have no doubt whatsoever that they'd be better on tactics.

What's funny now is that Trump is pushing for more and leaning closer to the dems numbers to get this done (giving them some leverage), but McConnell and the GOP want smaller checks and McConnell just wants a small business band aid.

Because he's a fucking whackjob.

Because you’re a fucking hypocritical idiot. Hypothetical stimulus doesn’t really stimulate, does it? You fucking clowns spend 5 years drumming on that Bernie Bros and socialist policies are impassable pipe dreams in relation to more electable candidates and their reasonable platforms. Well Nancy Pelosi has a passable stimulus bill on her goddamn desk, and what do you suburban bourgeois asswipes think about it? “We can’t let Donny Trump score any points on us!!!” Eat shit.

Bitch, I voted for Warren. You just keep letting Republicans own you and see how that works out for you.

impressive, you supported a candidate who won exactly 63 Primary delegates and came in third in her home state, I certainly can’t argue with those progressive bonafides, but still doesn’t really address the problem of you not supporting the stimulus bill?

Not defending Pelosi anymore than necessary, but is there any evidence a $1.8T bill would actually pass the Senate?

Both parties are playing hardball, and Trumps stimulus bill, based on the 8(?) articles I’ve read about it today, is positioned as the compromise bill between the parties. Both parties seem dead set on blaming the other for the failure to pass anything before the election, because they both want to see who wins the political leverage. So would Trumps bill pass the senate? I don’t know, but I do know that the Democrats House bill won’t pass the senate, and I know McConnells bill won’t pass the house.

I just get confused about when we should or shouldn’t compromise with republicans. This is especially true with the progressive wing of the party that often have the extreme fuck working across the aisle attitudes.

Which is the entire point that people are frustrated about, in all of Trumps steroid riddled mania, this last ditch attempt at winning some level of favor by passing a huge bi-partisan stimulus bill, is actually a good idea.

This isn’t working across the aisles, this is hoping that Democrats will put aside election maneuvering to support the Presidents stimulus package, so that the Republican Party has to fall in behind him.

Here, if you won’t take my opinion seriously -

election is in 3 weeks bruh, relax

You do realize that no matter who wins the Senate, the new members won’t be seated until January? It’s been quite a while since that last stimulus package was passed. I’m just spitballing here, but maybe it might be good for the American economy to put a little
Money in peoples pockets before Christmas? Just a thought.

That may be true. My reading was that the Senate was not going to agree to 1.8T. If they were so willing, there is nothing stopping McConnell from passing that bill and putting heat on Pelosi.

I'm torn for reasons mentioned above on both sides. Two things likely push me on the side of getting something done now, especially if mitch does not like it, as long as it includes measures to fight the pandemic as aggressively and science based as possible.

1 - people are really hurting.
2 - waiting until after the election either shows trump riding in as the conquering hero to save the day or more likely he says "f u America. You voted against me and I'm going to wreak havoc and veto everything." He really would refuse to sign a stimulus bill out of spite if he loses.

Thinking further on it, if the Democrats did support the Trump stimulus bill, and the Republicans refused to pass it, it would be the perfect opportunity to play Trump against his own party right before the election.

How many times in the last 4 years have Democrats had the opportunity to leverage Trump’s popular support against his own party? To, AT THE SAME TIME say - “Mitch McConnell and the Republican Party don’t support their President” *AND* say “Donald Trump is such a failure that his own party won’t support him.”

Think of this political ad: you’ve got Trump or a Trump tweet talking about “Going BIG with the stimulus package” and split screened you’ve got Mitch McConnell killing Trumps stimulus bill, and just throw up a big block text “WHOSE PARTY IS THIS?” Play up the chaos. Playing team members against each other is such a classic tactic but Republicans so rarely break ranks to give Democrats the opportunity
