Bullshit Trump Says

The Boy Scouts thing last night was one of the most disgusting things he's done. It's worse than Access Hollywood.

Taking a non-partisan, non-political group of kids and giving them a campaign speech is abhorrent.
 
It's what his voters wanted.

Unfortunately, the boy scouts as an organization has been partisan and political, and I bet a bunch of boy scouts in West Virginia have been indoctrinated with rubeness and MAGA since birth.

This really is correct. Trump is an absolute asshole and the speech was atrocious on many levels, but, as an Eagle Scout, I can confirm that the Boy Scouts have long been a very conservative organization. Their teachings have been intertwined with homophobia and conservative religious ideas for a long time. Yes I learned a lot of good stuff as a scout, but they really did their best to turn me into a conservative adherent.

Then-Oklahoma Senator Steve Russell, a Republican who now serves in the House of Representatives, said Obama was seemingly promoting himself by telling kids to work hard in school. “As far as I'm concerned this is not civics education—it gives the appearance of creating a cult of personality,” Russell said at the time.

Very true. Also, based on my Boy Scout experience, the scouts probably loved the playboy yacht insinuations. Doesn't mean that Trump shouldn't have been above telling that story though.

IMO, the politics of a troop depended largely on the sponsoring organization. BSA has recently lost a lot of the more conservative sponsors and troops in the evangelical south due to their recent stances regarding gay scouts and leaders.

Nah, in his mind he's thinking "no one knows any of this stuff." Just think of all the times he says "people don't know this..." and says something that is common knowledge for those that pay attention. He honestly thinks he is smarter than everyone.

You don't think you would remember the President of the United States telling anecdotes to a bunch of kids about an old man banging chicks on a yacht? I think that would stick with me.
