My half choice depends on whether I plan to eat the entire meal.

If I'm eating everything, I'll eat the less desirable half first -- usually the smaller of the two.

If there's any chance at all that I'll save some for later, I eat the bigger half first so I will be satisfied.

Her family has a place at the Tighlman so we rolled here for four free days. Doing some real touristy stuff. Just ate at Paula Deans and almost instantaneously had explosive shits. Lotta grease and butter that my system obviously ain’t used to.

We have a place at the Prince resort at the pier. We like Cherry Grove fine - the beach is nice. We avoid the more tacky parts of Dirty Myrtle. There are some good restaurants if you look really hard... The place rents great, so there is that...

We went to New York Prime which was actually pretty good, but really just a standard steakhouse. Would recommend if you feel like steak at the beach.

Also went to the higly recommended Sea Captain's House, which was straight up average at best.

olive garden and medieval times, duh

Been there, done that. It was awesome. Used a coupon and saved $14! I spent all of it on extra paper crown hats.

Took the 2 year old to the toddler fights afterward. He's huge, but I kept him in the 2 year old bracket because he doesn't turn 3 until November. He crushed absolute face in the first two matchups. Damn near ripped a kid's arm off in the second match. I never get tired of seeing him with his blood up.

It wasn't until match #3 that I considered that someone else might be sandbagging by loadin' their kid up on Mt. Dew and Hershey bars on the regular. I had spent too much time collecting bets for the third match, so I didn't see how my boy had got wore down from the earlier back-to-backs. He's usually good for three fights, but neither of us were ready for the next monster; kid should have been in kindergarten by the size of him. He was huge. Obviously tweaking out on ADHD meds. I cain't lie, I was shook. By the time mine climbed into the pit, I started to realize how much money I had riding on this one. Things weren't lookin' good.

Thank god for the Myrtle Beach five-O. They must have caught wind of the on-the-sly Medieval Times after-party and came to shake down some of the parents. I snapped up the little one and made it out of there before they started busting heads.

Yeahhhhh, gimme that longevity pay boost in my pocket. Yeahhhhh. Always a good day. Something to be said for sticking it out in this hell hole for 10+ years -- a nice 1.5% bonus every year. Up to 2.25 for me next year when I hit 15. Rolling in it.

i think we now know who ChrisPaul3 is

what are the good restaurants?

Just in the last year or so we discovered a little family-run Italian place called Villa Tuscanna. It is on 17 in N. Myrtle. I'm sure all the sophisticated palates here would consider it barely average but we love it. Great service and we think the food is awesome. Everyone we have taken there has loved it.

The Boundary house is our go-to for Calabash - certainly a step above the other fried-food havens in that area. I wouldn't call it awesome but it is very good.

Someone else already mentioned the Sea Captain's House - to be honest, it used to be better. We still go there and enjoy it - the clam chowder is some of the best - but it might be a victim of its own success. It does have a great location - it is fun to hang out in the yard in the back on the water while you wait for your table.

Funny story on MB restaurants. A number of years ago some friends of ours invited us to join them for a weekend in Myrtle. They had young kids and ours were still school aged. They were the kind of people who had their own set routines and didn't like to vary them. So, we just kind of went along with whatever they wanted to do. We stayed in a high-rise condo down in MB proper. Every day we would make sandwiches and take them to the beach with our coolers and stuff. We would stay on the beach all day, eating lunch by balancing our sandwiches on our laps in beach chairs on the sand. That's fine, whatever.
In the evening we would come up, shower and go out to eat to these "great places" that they always went. The first night it was TGI Friday's, the second night it was the Yamato japanese steak house. Fun times!

Boundary house is solid. The Chesapeake House is really good. If you dig fried flounder, and I do, it’s hard to go wrong. I would heartily recommend never ever eating at Paula Dean’s after the events of the last 18 hours.

Holy shit ! Anybody ever listen to those call-in shows on the SiriusXM Vivid Video station where the losers call in and talk to porn stars ? WTF !?!?!??!?
