Did [Redacted] delay the inevitable for a year?

Jeff [Redacted] on the importance of playing UNC, and the wheels on the bus go round and round...

“I understood it from day one,” [Redacted] said. “It’s not another game. A win over Carolina would mean a win over Carolina. Enough said." “The reason I say that is everybody knows the importance of it. I don’t have to state that. I don’t. Everybody knows. A win over Carolina is a win over Carolina and there’s no need to elaborate on what that means to everybody.”

That quote is just perfectly Buzz.

He's going to resign at the end of the season.

Enjoy the win...as much as I hate to say it, and as stupid as his halftime comment was (I mean, I was there and didn't have stats to look at and I knew we were getting killed on the boards), he really did a good job of getting this team prepared for the tar hole's aggressive defense. The backdoor cuts were great. We suck at rebounding and free throws, and that's going to kill us a lot this season, but this team as ready for the holes. Not sure which asst had this scout (maybe Battle?), but they did a good job. Watching Battle, Larue, and Chill on the bench was fun last night. Chill & Larue hate the holes- and Chill was going nuts. It was a good night to be a Wake fan. Don't let Wellman ruin that for you.

Good post. Last night's win was worth it for Travis alone, IMHO. He deserves to be a huge part of a win over UNC at least once in his Wake career.

Bz with a week off at home. Don't bet against Bz in the cushiest of conditions.

bzz can set up a decent game plan with enough prep time. he can't change that game plan once a good coach counters his moves by half time. roy williams ain't a genius coach.

Wake is 12th in the nation in rebounding (cue up but "soft OOC schedule comments"). Wake sucks at rebounding when Devin Thomas isn't playing. I mean shit, for pretty lengthy periods yesterday the biggest guy on the court was Cav. You aren't going to outrebound teams with the lineups we were forced to play. However, you might beat them with crisp passing and quick offensive movement.

After this season, RW will announce with regret that Bz has resigned, comment on the problems he inherited, thank him for turning the program around and for building a solid foundation for success in the future. Then he will go out and hire an aggressive young coach that he should have gotten four years ago.

For tonight, enjoy the win and dont let troublesome thoughts enter your mind.

ABC, baby!

This is what I predicted at the beginning of the season. We've learned that this is all about pride for Wellman. He just wants to save face. We should root for 18-20 wins and Bzdelick rides off in to the sunset with a modicum of his reputation intact. Wellman gets to spin it as the plan all along, and we move on.

If we get 18-20 wins, [Redacted] ain't going anywhere.

It was Coach B's scout ... and once again he did an excellent job!

Meant to say "sucked at rebounding"- meaning last night. We got killed. And that's going to happen a lot this season when we face big, physical teams. Yes- we can compensate by doing other things well, but this team is going to have to have almost perfect execution every game to do that.

But, good Lord, we need to hit our free throws. And if Bill could hit a jumper...

Does Moto go by "Bill?" I know his name is William but never knew if the "bill moto" thing was an OGB boards creation.

Thanks BabyDeac...I thought it might be- he was more animated than usual last night, but all the asst's were animated so it was hard to tell.

Battle always does a great job with his scouts...and it appeared Buzz stuck to the game plan!

Watching the Bz post-game interview, it struck me how much he has aged over the past 4 years. Among my issues with Bz hire was his age (he was 57 when Wellman hired him, and he is 61 now), but until recently, he did seem younger than his age. That was not the case last night. He wasn't dottering, but he just looked and talked like a tired older man after the game. Unlike BabyDeac, I have no inside info, but starting to believe that it's possible Bz could just step away after the season. I sense a similar type of vibe to the one that Grobe exhibited during the 2013 football season.

I think both men would be willing to pull the trigger, but they just need a little breathing room. Bz is not happy here. He can't be.

If you've ever been $1000 in the red at a casino, and you are just about to quit, but you fight back to within $200 of break even, you will gladly exit at the first available opportunity, thankful that you stuck it out just long enough to catch a few breaks and leave with some self respect.

Everyone was saying this stuff after the Miami game last year and then Buzz tanked the season. I can't root against Wake, but I have no confidence Buzz won't tank the rest of the season. And he can't afford it this year. Someone earlier posted that this was more about the Holes playing badly...I agree. They were horrid. For Wake to do that poorly off the boards and from the foul line and still win...unreal....our players gave a ton of effort but make no mistake, UNC shit the bed.

Dude, they released a behind the scenes video of the Miami game THIS YEAR. That game single handedly bought him another year. I think this UNC game did the same. Look for the video to be released this afternoon.

If you will remember, Buzz has asked RW if he wanted his resignation in both of the previous offseasons. Nina doesn't want to be here.
