It's all but official now: Jeb is running!

Candidate odds on Sportsbook:

Clinton +170
Bush +800
Romney +1000
Christie +2500
Warren +2500
Rubio +2500
Walker +2500
Paul +2500

Those are the top five individual choices.

Party:

Democrat -155
Republican +140
Other +5000

Decent value to be had on Christie I think, even though I don't believe he will win.

In a nation with so many amazing people, we need to change something to encourage them to run for elected office.

Exactly. Leaving is for losers. If they wanna win, they stay and go out and vote for the Republican candidate. One would think that adults would understand that. Did Ronald Reagan leave the Republican Party, when Ford won the nomination? What are these people? Some sort of Librul fifth column?

It's a totally different GOP today. But they won't leave and won't win. It's about the demographics.

I really think the high entry to barrier is probably the top reason.

Also, half the people you're working for are going to hate how you're doing your job no matter how you do it.

I know a certain athletic director who would stab a puppy for that approval rating. Not mentioning any names, of course.

I think a lot of people are also frustrated because holding political office didn't used to be synonymous with 24/7/365 campaigning. Right now, I don't trust anyone who WANTS to run for office. It seems like it fucking sucks. I think the idea of holding political office is great, but anyone who willingly wants to step into that world as it stands now must be a combination of fake, narcissistic, douche

Agreed. That's why I give credit to Warren if she manages to pull off a "screw it, I'll run" that looks authentic.

2014 was good year for the GOP, but a crappy year for the Tea Party and that appears to be continuing. Establishment 'Pubs beat down most of the Tea Party primary candidates for statewide office.

Boehner might have been slightly embarrassed by the Speaker vote, but he still got 216 GOP votes, 2 short of what he'll need to get legislation passed. Of the 25 who voted against him, the GOP would be far better off without Louie Gohmert (who received a whopping 3 votes, including his own), Steve King, and some other morons who drag the party down. Now Boehner knows he can get most stuff passed without the Tea Party and can ignore them. Still won't stop multiple Tea Partiers from running in Iowa and splitting the vote while Jeb focuses on later states.
