Tyler Lewis was offered but would not have come here. I've known him and watched him play since the 8th grade. Don't blame Buzz for not getting Lewis. It would have never happened.

I hear he disciplines kids who get a rebound. I'm sure that's what he's preaching at half time and why we're bringing in 5 players next year that are 6-6" or taller. Probably all the little guys he wanted were taken by State first.
What a load of horseshit. The guy is a 'foundation type" -- you can't 'speak it' but he's only here for 5 years and then Wellman makes a legacy hire (his own legacy). [Redacted] was the right fit for a program that had lost its light -- a freewheeling man for all seasons who dropped dead... Now pay attention -- the guy that replaced him was a 'good lieutenant" but did not have either the ability or the fortitude to tell his kids that they were fucking up and playing one on one basketball. The kids ran the program and the coach lacked discipline on and off the court. Now then, at the 2 schools down the road you can roll out AAU talent but never - ever is a ballplayer bigger than the program and you see it when the coach at either university takes a star to the side and chews him out for all to see. Those guys are coaches. Dino was no fucking coach. He was a poor baby-sitter and when you came home you found out that the kids were all outside and a couple of them were peddaling weed and enrolled in a thug program for minors. That last program -- sans Skip who would jerk a knot in yer ass if you f'ked up-- was headed for some major embarrassment which is what happens when you have no CODE.
That's all Jeff is...he's no world beater or one hit wonder...he is a CODE guy...the guy in the military who they send in to instill discipline in a troop gone off the rails. He is here to do a job and then make way...
Neg Rep the Hell out of me...who gives a shit, but I guaran-damn-tee that the 'alleged incident' with the girl in the band would have become the norm as long as that previous coach remained seated on his hands.
Nevermind the knot-heads -- racerdeac can't understand that discipline is not necessarily the screaming type... He also can't understand that the discipline at WF had entirely eroded (the reason Gaudio was fired) and that without a stabilizing figure the program was heading toward public embarrassment... I don't know what it would have been but there was a gulf forming between the student body and the basketball athletes and that never works out well.
Just get the Greensboro paper this morning and see the pic of Buzz and Daniel Green. Buzz is in his face and has his hand pressed against Green's chest. Dino never fuckin disciplined anybody.
I don't disagree. But sometimes we play a 3 guard offense where our SF is 6-3, PF is 6-6 and our center plays like a 6-6 guy. We have no girth and the only guy on the team I'd say who doesn't have below average thickness for his position is Chennault. Offensive rebounding is clearly not Bz top priority as he seems to value getting back on D or just realizes it's not a strength of the current squad and doesn't want to get burned trying foolishly.NCSt should have a very good team next season. As you know, not all our tall recruits will likely be ready for the ACC unless they get a lot stronger. Thomas,Moto and Codi seem more ready than the others on that scale.
It is of course possible, perhaps even probable, that Wellman told Dino to improve in the area of player discipline and it didn't happen.

There isn't an excuse for not getting defensive rebounds but I think that's more our personnel than a strategy of the coach. Maybe he could do better if he threatened them with less PT but that would be even worse. Hopefully having Ty and Daniel Green back will help our numbers a bit.
Just to state a fact: Wake Forest ranks 33rd in the country in effective height (average height of the center and power forward positions), and 55th in average height (77.4").
We are not small by any means, we just do not run an offensive scheme that is conducive to rebounding. To continue to harp on rebounding is just something that isn't going to change that much unless if we change something for our 3-4-5 guys to be inside when shots go up. It is clear (seemingly only to a few people) that this is how it is going to be. To continue to be concerned about it is really just a waste of time and energy.
I would be more concerned about how effective we are going to be shooting the ball, because that is what will give us wins and losses. The offense has to give us open looks, and we have to make them, because we aren't going to be getting many 2nd chances at the basket.
How so?This isn't true
Carson and Daniel are tall but that doesn't mean they have the right size to rebound.
ETA also we are also a terrible defensive rebounding team, that has nothing to do with what offense we run.

I would argue that the defensive numbers demonstrate how good of a rebounding team we are (which is slightly below average @ 180). IMO we aren't even trying on offense, despite what Coach said a couple of weeks ago. There is nothing wrong with that to me, it just means that we have to make shots.
So we are a poor defensive rebounding team and an atrocious offensive rebounding team.
The AF and Colorado rebounding numbers are bad, but is it a surprise that our lone good rebounder gets rebounds?
I could be wrong but suspect our average height includes Ty Walker so it's not exactly reflecting our season to date.
