How big’s his gym?Deacon coach away from Winston.
Their season has completely went off the rails18-7 (7-5) Catamounts getting curbstomped at 22-3 (11-1) Samford right now on ESPNU.
WCU entered the last Samford game at 15-2. Samford has 1 loss to Furman since that game.
WCU fell to 6th in the SoCon.
Good point - I do wonder who is included in the "most want to do"? Like from a fan perspective, or an AD perspective?Justin really thinks outside the box on his NIL with limited resources. I really think that’s worth noting.
Also enjoy Randolph on the Field of 68 pod. He was railing last night about Ohio State pointing out correctly that it’s easy to win in Men’s Basketball if and only if you put big NIL money into Men’s Basketball. What you put into football simply doesn’t matter.
Randolph is 100% right. If we want to win in men’s basketball the checks need to go directly to Roll the Quad but designated just for men’s basketball. A general donation to Roll the Quad is great. But it will overwhelmingly be spent for football since that’s what most want to do. If you want us to win in men’s basketball you actually have to designate it for that purpose.
I sure hope this isn't the case. Nothing will have Wake in the SoCon or Big South faster than "let's try to be a basketball school". Then we can really complain about the arena being too big when Furman comes to town for a conference matchup that is only available on the radio or a subscription service.Good point - I do wonder who is included in the "most want to do"? Definitely just my opinion and could be off-base, but if it was fan-driven at Wake for folks who give, I would guess that weighs heavily towards the "want this to go to basketball over football if given the choice".
You can take the boy out of Wake Forest, but you can’t take Wake Forest out of the boy.Their season has completely went off the rails
We can win a national championship in bball much easier than in football, sure. But we need football to be competitive to have any chance to compete in bball. We at least need to stay in a power football conference, even if we go 1-11 every year.Couldn't disagree more. I want to be a basketball school, and think we can. We will never ever be a football school. We cannot and will not compete in the current landscape of college football. We are too small and will never have enough money.
idk man - the Big East is doing fine and half those schools don't even have football teams. We can win a national championship in bball much easier than in football, sure. They are the exception to the rule. If we ended up in the Big East then maybe we’d be okay. That’s the only way but I don’t see that happening. Interest in WF athletics would drop across the board though if we had to drop to FCS in football. Those schools never really had big time football so there wasn’t a chance for the fanbase to go through.idk man - the Big East is doing fine and half those schools don't even have football teams.
(I agree with you mostly)
But no we really haven't. The gulf between the top 2 and number 20 in football is much wider than the top 2 and number 80 in basketball. It just is what it is as a sport. We’ve been closer to a national championship in football than basketball over the last decade.
Based on what? We’ve made ONE Final Four in our history. We’re no more of a bball school than a football school.I'm not buying it. Wake is, historically, a "basketball school".

WF Football has been ranked in the final AP poll 5 times, twice in the last 30 years.
WF Basketball has been ranked in the final AP poll 17 times, eight times in the last 30 years.
