Justin Gray ('06) Named Head Coach at Coastal Carolina

Going into this game, Samford was shooting 4th best in the nation 41% from three. In conference games, Samford is shooting 43% from three. Got to be unsustainable. Samford is shooting 56% from three in the first half. Geez
 
WCU down 61-57 with 4:03 left.
 
WCU lost 75-71.
 
Samford looks like the clear favorite in the Socon. Maybe WCU can get to the NIT
 
One bid league unless Samford goes unbeaten until the SOCON tourney. So, WCU has the best chance to win the SOCON tourney outside of Samford. FWIW, its not like Samford won big; it was a one point game with 10 seconds left.

Is Woolbright an NBA prospect? 6-6, 215, likely SoCon POY, dominates possession for them but does not shoot 3's. He's averaging 21 points/13 rebounds/5 assists per game

This is the best WCU team in the last two decades; so, playing the SOCONT in Ashville may finally benefit them this year. Furman started the SOCON conference schedule, with multiple injuries but they have found their form now. FWIW, Carter Whitt has finally gotten his groove; he's still not a huge scorer, but he's getting 30+ minutes at point, and he runs a very efficient Furman offense. The Paladins beat Samford last night. Samford had the nation's longest winning streak. There are 5 solid SOCON teams:

  • Samford
  • UNCG
  • Furman
  • WCU
  • Chattanooga
Brooks Savage has a lot of work to do at ETSU. They beat VMI at the buzzer last night. VMI is one of the worst teams in the nation.

I’m well versed in the Socon. I follow the league closely and have been to the Socon tournament many times. It should be a fun one this year.
