MBB Game 17: @ NC State -- Tuesday 7 pm ACCN

this was us with the Nut Punch game since it sometimes gets overlooked that CP3 ran the length of the court and hit the game winner

"With their quick lineup, it doesn't take long for Wake Forest to advance the ball."

Think it's pretty easy to surmise that if we don't start winning a few toss up road games this year we'll be lucky to even be in the NIT. Gotta win some games to make the dance
Need 5 or 6 road wins.

it’s specifically the games like today that are going to determine whether or not Forbes system is going to work here. Most of his win totals have come from early season home games - but it’s the grind of the ACC season where we are going to have to win road games to compete for the ACC title and earn a tournament bid. This is the season to do it - we have the talent.

And it's the optimists vs. the pessimists on these here rjkarl boards. We are indeed a long-suffering bunch. Put me in the former category: takes as much effort either way.

Go Deacs! I feel like we come out firing; all up in their business; serious swagger from horn to horn.

I understand the inclination, but I think we need to stop declaring that each game is a "must-win" in terms of our NCAAT chances. We've done that for probably every ACC game so far.

Yes every game is important to our resume, including tonight. But we aren't dead in the water if we lose tonight.

It's definitely not a "must-win". It just makes our path much easier if we do win. We need to get to 14/15 wins, and every game that we lose just puts more pressure on us to win later in the season. We can be kind to ourselves (and fanbase!!!) and get it done now instead of later.

Yeah, this perspective is good.

I was just hoping to not see 50 different posts about how our NCAAT chances are doomed and Forbes has lost his credibility if we happen to lose by 4 or something tonight

oh so you'd rather start strong and finish the season on a slump vs just finishing strong? :troll:

In today's way-too-early NET rankings, there are 4 teams in the top 45 with zero Q1 wins:

#8 Auburn
#30 Princeton
#38 SMU
#43 San Francisco

and then #s 46-50 all have zero Q1 wins. WF is #46.

It's very possible that we'll end the season with one Q1 home opportunity (Clemson is currently #27 and could easily drop - especially after we beat them by 20) so we should win this game, and others like them, on the road. Even though, of course, many of our road games (NCSU, Pitt, UVA, VPI) are set up to be low end Q1 / high end Q2 opportunities.

Duke will be a Q1 home opportunity guaranteed. And yeah Clemson really the only other option for that. Major issue the ACC keeps having.

Another is that Notre Dame was absolutely horrible to start the year and is now the 6th best team in the ACC since Christmas. That shit can't happen for our bubble teams. Gotta take care of business against GT, Louisville, ND - especially at home.

When trying to figure out why a team is at a particular rank in NET, the key seems to always be how many Road/Neutral wins they have. Wake is 2-4 away from home. Princeton is 6-1 on the road, for example.

How many different ways can Notre Dame be a thorn in our collective side. Won’t join the ACC in football, created the Hartman saga, and won’t stick to the script with NET.

Other than that, yay, we’re so happy to have you!

1) How much are you beating teams by?
2) How much did you lose by?
3) Who did you beat and where?

Consistently piling up wins on the road against mediocre teams counts the same as piling up wins against top 75-100 teams at home.

They can pay up and hit the door w/ f$u as well.
