More DS Premium Drama! Deman = NCSCout?

Ahhh, that's better then.

I thought it was Deman or Scout that made that comparison as an effort to boost morale.

So, I'll just put my "Oh, for fuck's sake..." to you instead.

I'll take your "Oh, for fuck's sake" and raise you a "bite me."

What's it like posting from 1992? A porn mag? Really?

Seriously they obviously have access to the internet, its probably the weird tentacle porn Deman likes caused an early explosion before the tissues were ready, boom instant sticky keyboard causing an IP glitch.

Anyway, Evan Turner wasn't a huge recruit coming out of high school (we wanted a package deal with him and McCamey and ended up with Teague and Johnson) and had a solid, if not spectacular year, his freshman year before completely blowing up his soph campaign.

So I don't think it's that ridiculous. If Rountree comes in and puts up 8.5/4.5/2.5 and shoots .470/.699/.333 would we be all that shocked? That's what Turner put up his freshman year. I'd be extremely pleased with that even if he doesn't make the extreme leap between years that Turner did.

Yeah, but if he did that, it still wouldn't make him Evan Turner.

But that IP address thing is bullshit. No offense to catu's friends, but I generally think Deman is full of shit.

Good for relaying what the staff is (or should say "was") thinking at the time, but I don't trust his talent evaluations at all.

It is interesting about this IP thing -- their opinions overlap pretty often. I think Scout was also super high on that Johnny Thomas kid who ended up going to State. They both seemed all jonesed up about that kid.

Do they both wear wife beaters and tight gym coach shorts all the time? Could be a clue.

I don't think Deman works for the athletic department. His real name is well known and it's not listed in the directory of all athletic department employees.

Just did some digging and I am pretty sure that Deman is not employed by the Ath Dept. So Mr Shutt was truthful there, it seems.

Unless Deman does not understand what ip addresses are (which would be disturbing), there is plainly some intentional deception taking place.

Yeah, but if he did that, it still wouldn't make him Evan Turner.

No kidding, but if someone thinks his game resembles Evan Turner I don't think it is a totally out there comparison. Walt Williams didn't exactly come in and tear it up initially, either.

What am I trying to say: I hate comparisons like that in general, because most of the time I see them and think about what the kid was (or imagine what he would have been) like in high school, not his best year in college or how high he got drafted.

I don't think anyone saw Evan Turner as a potential college superstar out of high school, they probably saw him as a 12/7/5 guy or something -- someone who could contribute in many ways.

Still, I'm going off-topic. The Walt Williams one confuses me the most. He definitely filled it up, but I have trouble believing we are signing a guy who has the potential to drop 27 a year, no matter how long he stays in school. It definitely smacks of talking him up, and as you alluded, it's not as if after talking these kids up and them not fulfilling that we see any sort of accountability -- it's all couched in whatever, rather than admitting they just misevaluated.

So yes, basically I think Deman and Scout, if not the same person, are in cahoots, more or less, and Deman probably uses and embellishes these evaluations.

I am also positive that Deman isn't officially employed by the AD.

Wasn't NCScout originally using the name PrepScout? If so it seems strange that he would come back with a different name.

Well, PrepScout changed to NCScout when the boards first moved, or so that poster claimed. So his name had been NCScout for a while.

To Deman's credit, he'll admit that he misevaluated. It's just that he faces no sanctions from posters for that misevaluation. People aren't going to trust him less and he's not going to lose his status as an expert, just like people don't hold up Andy Katz' bracket to a microscope to see if he should still have his job.
