NFL Year 2021 Superbowl LVI. Rams win! Wolford gets a ring!.

If the Rams get 3rd and 18 right there from the 20, they can kneel out the game and win with a FG. I don’t understand why they didn’t throw downfield to try to get the first or the TD. Running clock doesn’t matter that much.

Preventing Stafford from doing something stupid and daring jimmy G to beat you

Interesting controversy on one Mixon play that Reid wanted to have reviewed. On the play where mixon broke it for 15-20 yard run he actually isn’t touched by any chief player and goes down on his own man and then pops up and tosses ball away which chief player picked up. Refs claim he was giving himself up but definitely not what is normally contemplated for a player giving himself up. Mixon just wasn’t aware he hadn’t actually been tackled down and he could have kept going into endzone but instead tossed ball away. Don’t think I’ve ever seen such a play and seems Reid had a point.

Just remember Reid didn’t take the 3 points at the end of the 1st half. That was a bonehead move.

with all the stellar QB play we have seen in the playoffs, its kinda nice just to see a QB totally fuck up in the clutch...

Yeah I thought the same. Couldn’t tell on replay if someone clipped his leg as he went down.

Nope. He trusted Mahomes to run a 4-second pass play that would either be there or not. Mahomes throws a swing pass to Hill inbounds with a brick wall of Bengals to the endzone. Bonehead move by Mahomes.

Did Mahomes call the play that put his best WR in the flat? That was a play problem, not an execution problem. That should have been a quick slant or back shoulder fade.

Rewatch the play. It was clearly designed to Robinson or Kelce in the endzone or a quick chuck away. That's all on Mahomes.

Wolford v Bates

With Scotty as a potential roster ad

True… also if Reid didn’t call a timeout before challenging that awful spot on the Burton run, he would have had one to use at goal line.

Yeah, Hill was just a clear out route and Mahomes should have just thrown that ball away

As an Eagles fan I can say that clock management has never been Reid’s strong suit. But that spot was just brutal - it was almost 2 yards short of the correct spot. Also, it’s absolutely ridiculous that in 2022 we’re spotting a ball the way it’s done. There should be technology that can do this much more accurately. Soccer VAR and tennis hawk-eye are way more advanced

All these genius hotshot coaches yet they keep running 4th-and-short plays with no upside that are always questionably officiated.

The first coach who refuses to run QB sneaks or RB runs right into the middle of all 11 defenders on these plays will be my personal fave

Well it wasn’t Shanahan. Tied and near midfield with 2nd and 1 and 2 runs in a row. Just terrible playcalling when they needed another first down and then a FG for lead.

So the hc had no responsibility for trying to 3 plays in 9 sec. And two with 4? High risk. Bad decision.

That is the Victor Cruz Rule from about 10 years ago. It is pretty clear that the play is over if the offensive player thinks he has been touched down and gives himself up. They got it right.

An official shall declare the ball dead and the down ended… when a runner is out of bounds, or declares himself down by falling to the ground, or kneeling, and making no effort to advance.

Remember when people thought OBJ was dogging it and Baker Mayfield was better off with out him? Remember when people clowned OBJ’s dad for making a video of Mayfield’s poor QB okay to stick up for his son?

Good times.

Remember when ELIte made ODB the best WR in the NFL and a surefire HOFer? Then he left ELIte and went 30+ games without a 100 yard receiving game?

Don’t forget Zac Taylor....now an asst. coach

Huh? This is his third season as a head coach. Used to be an asst for the Rams though.
