Randomly played White Clay Creek Country Club in Delaware over the weekend. Holy shit what a brutal course. I'm by no means a good, or even average, golfer, but I usually don't lose that many GD balls.

Great course though.

Just found/bought a set of these the other day. 1 iron - PW. Probably only have been hit 20 times. Anyone have an idea on the best way to display them? Frame somehow?

Seen them fanned out on a wall, 2 clubs in a glass frame, maybe find an old golf bag to put them in the corner

That's the one. God the second hole was stupid. Seven iron, wedge par four that you couldn't even consider trying to get near the green off the tee.

My 2nd best round I think is 83. My best is 74. Doubt there are that many golfers, if any, with that spread. Rip grandview.

The back was my front and started 3 over. Then went par, bogie on 2. Met up with a group and joined in. Said I wasn't that good but having a good day. Then proceeded to drive the green. Birdie par birdie par birdie.

Yeah, ours was this little rinky dink place called Pinebrook.

But our actual real favorite college course was Silo Run. Play for under $20, any level of golfer could join, and rarely ever waiting on other people.

That's Maple Chase to you sir

Sounds like my bowling spread. Best is 235 (finished with eight straight strikes), second best is like 175-180.

Grandview! I had some low rounds there. Short, easy, and (mostly) wide open!

Winston Lake was (and probably is) a terrible course... But some great memories of playing there and drinking a lot of beers. It was also where they did Kappa Kaddies... I distinctly remember a friend in my group shanking a wedge into a crowd of sorority girls on 18.

Good times.

Man, I am old.

Grandview is a shithole. Honestly, I really don't like that place. It's an overgrown Holiday Inn next to I-85 with two mediocre golf courses and an office park attached.

Never played it. Always feel like there should be an Indian casino included though, whenever I drive by.

Grandover is a shithole too.

I played River Ridge outside of Raleigh on Sunday for the first time. That is a really solid track. Played it at 6700 yards and it plays a little longer due to some twists and turns and elevation changes, along with some water hazards sprinkled throughout. The greens were great - I think they are champion bermuda and they were firm, smooth and pretty quick. The greens have a good bit of undulation. They were a joy to putt on.
The holes were varied and not boring at all. There are houses on the course but they were not too close or obtrusive at all.

All in all I thought it was a great course - among the best affordable public courses in the area. I recommend checking it out if you haven't.

Definitely a nice course to play if the greens are running fast and smooth. I'm not a fan of hole 16 from the back tees (470 yd dogleg right par 4 with a pond to carry fronting the green and OB just over the green?), and #17 is a tough par 3 with little bail out room, but the course has a wide variety of holes, and is usually in pretty good shape. You just have to know where to hit it on a few of the (semi) blind tee shots.

A friend of mine's boss just joined Congressional, which has 72 holes. $100K initiation fee with the stipulation that he cannot play the blue course (the famous one) for 3 years and cannot play on the weekend for 3 years.

Can't play on the weekend?? I guess you just don't join unless you have the flexibility to manage all that.

So those stipulations are normal or just for him?

Wait, can't play any of the four courses on the weekend? Or can't play with guests on the weekend (normally the rule)?
