I have missed very few games since 1969 and have stood by our basketball program through all the ups and downs. It was clear last year that Ron Wellman's unilateral decision to hire his friend was a horrendous mistake. [Redacted] is a clown and a joke. The players dislike him, the students have no interest in his program, the alumnae I talk with think he is in way over his head, and the media finds him to be a waste. It was clear last year that he was a terrible fit.
Ron Wellman did the right thing firing Gaudio, and he had the opportunity to organize a comprehensive search to identify the best candidate to lead our program. But he made the biggest mistake of his career. Listening to him defend [Redacted] on all the post game shows last year was pathetic.
I have a very bad feeling that Wellman will allow this disaster to continue in hopes that somehow, his decision may, some day, not look so asinine.
This is like a bad dream and who knows when Ron Wellman will wake up.
