State of the Buzz, Preseason

Do you approve of the job Jeff [Redacted] is doing as Head Coach?

Your points are somewhat logical except that Buzz said the EXACT same thing about building culture, blaming inexperience, etc at Colorado.... Under your logic, it would be impossible to judge Buzz because he's never stuck long enough for 'proper evidence'.

The only thing we have to go on is his actual results.

So I'm not disagreeing with you. Buzz's lack of track record makes it tough for me to blindly trust him. The track record he has isn't overly impressive. I just think any coach needs to be given time to implement a system before we kick him out the door. I'd like to think Buzz can get the best talent of his (college) coaching career here at Wake and that he'll stay long enough for us to make a judgment about his performance in a few years.
 
I'd like to think at the end of rainbows there are short Irishmen with an affinity for green handing out pots of gold.

Fair enough... It's just that based on both of your qualifiers; it's tough to see how you're Buzz-wait. But then again... I guess, in a way, we all are...

We know he cannot get a better job. And we know the talent he can recruit at Wake is better than what was available to him at Colorado or at Air Force. So as long as Wellman gives him a few years, we should be able to make the assessment.
 
It's pretty simple... there are 2 sides, those that want to give him a real chance, and those that don't. You can't talk about air force and the nba, etc...because it's not WAKE FOREST... just like if his next job is coaching the Carolina Panthers, you can't look at what he did at Wake Forest. Every situation is different and that's it......

You want to give him a chance or you don't.

DV7 is a politician and his only agenda on his platform is getting people on board with the ousting of Bzzzz.... I don't think I've ever felt as strongly about anything in sports as he does about this firing...
 
He can resign and go back to scouting for NBA teams for all I care. I would actually probably prefer that as it would save us the buyout.

The NBA needs to end the lockout STAT!

He is putting school above party (buzz in vs. buzz out) and is a great american (Brit?)
 
I'm Bzzwait. But I'm looking for the team to play well together this year and improve as the season goes on. I'm not going to pay too much attention to the record or who we lose to (sounds crazy, I know), because we are still in full on rebuilding mode, but if Bz can't at least "own" the team this year, I will have major concerns.

My expectations are lessened because I feel like our lack of size and strength absolutely kill us. Without any presence inside, its hard to win a basketball game no matter who you are playing. And I dont have unrealistic expectations for Carson to become a physical force. I still see him as a stretch-4. He can be a very good player for us and make an impact, but he is who he is.

I just want some positive vibes around the program while I wait for Moto and Thomas to hopefully deliver us some balls.
 
We're going to struggle this year, but I'm looking forward to watching us play anyway. Why?

If [Redacted]'s system can work, the only plausible explanation for our horrific 2010 season is that the malcontents, distractions, thefts, suspensions, etc all served to royally screw up the team. Some players certainly improved - CJ, McKie, Carson, even Nikita. Chennault never really caught up conditioning-wise but has a handle. So we have some pieces and they're not all freshmen.

But we've gone backwards in overall talent and depth. A player's coach could probably have kept Ari, JT, and Tabb around, and that's a lot of talent to give up.

So will we be as bad, or worse, after the talent and depth drain? Or will we be one of those teams that looks well taught but is short on talent/size/athleticism. I want to watch games and instead of screaming at my TV as JT Terrell pulls up for another fade away 3 with 25 seconds on the shot clock giving away another dunk on the long rebound, I want to leave thinking "man, if we had a natural scorer and a big body, or maybe a legit point guard - we'd have beaten that team."

If we get trounced just as badly as we did last year by everyone, I'll have absolutely no faith that anything short of incoming NBA all-stars could significantly elevate the program in the near future.
 
Does it hurt that even a retread like Gottfried is racking up in recruiting and even beating out UNC and your recruiting is based on finding 2 stars who will blow all the way up to lower ranked 4 stars?


Yeah I'm bragging and asking for neg rep, but I'm pumped!
