The Deacs v The Cuse Game Thread

Thought our D was pretty good tonight. I did notice Sarr getting lost down low a time or two, but he'll learn. Lots of potential there.

We held it to 12 turnovers; shot 9-19 from 3; out-rebounded the Orange 38-29. Thompson with 13/7 in 29 minutes. We'll take that night in/night out.

Good job, Deacs!

Sarr saved Manning from another bonehead loss. We had our best FT shooter inbounding the ball to Sarr twice in the last minute. Sarr’s last 4 free throws were pure. Chill, Wilbekin and Crawford all missed free throws which could have helped seal the win. Very fortunate to survive the missed free throws and bad inbounding strategy.

to the first sentence

In all fairness, the poster is absolutely hammered right now.

Why was Wake wearing black uniforms during a home game?

nice win

for the most part, we did not settle for 3's and tried to attack the basket

not a perfect performance but I'll take it

let's get one in Chestnut Hill

Thompson was 5-8 from the floor, 3-4 FT's, 7 rebounds and 3 steals and a few people said earlier they want to sit him??

Per DCDeac's post in the other thread: When Thompson plays 20 minutes or more Wake is 1-5. Under 20 and we're 6-1.

Perhaps he's just a victim of circumstance, but maybe people want to sit him because so far limiting his minutes has been good for the team's success.

Kinda stung watching Joel Berry miss the exact same shot he hit against us to lose to FSU...

Other than that, great win by the Deacs. Why is everyone suddenly acting like Syracuse is awful? They beat Maryland, VaTech, GTown... We were dominating early then lost our top scorer and had to go to some weird lineups - sure it got ugly for a while but it's still a win. We left what, 5 or 6 points on the line between Craw, Wilbekin, and Chill down the stretch but still won? Killed them on the boards and in assists (20?!), one less turnover... Pretty impressive.

Also happy to eat some crow on Thompson tonight. He really played well, ha a big role in Wake out rebounding Syracuse by 10, spun that weird layup in at a critical moment, and only had like 4 horrible plays on defense. He even led us in steals. Chaundee still struggling with the speed of the college game it seems. Sarr with some big free throws and Chill overcame a tough game with a huge bucket and free throws at the end... Definitely a team effort.

Here's hoping VaTech plays the same defense against us that they're currently playing against UVA.

It's just a parade of completely wide open shots. UVA's not even running anything, just throw it around, drive it after a ball reversal, hit a spot up shooter for an uncontested 3. Horrid.

It's almost like Manning did this on purpose.

Crawford...missed free throws which could have helped seal the win.

Do you even read your own posts?

Very fortunate to survive the...bad inbounding strategy.

Lol. You're so very dumb. We clearly had our best passer throwing over a Syracuse giant to our sweet, Euro-shooting big man. Who then made enough free throws to win us the game.

OOOF, ND beat State by 30, without Bonzie Colson who is out 2 months

Dude, I don’t drink. Haven’t for 15 years. Where do you get off saying this crap? Do I know you?

Don't be mad, he was giving you the benefit of the doubt...

The Dinger was questioning why Starr didn’t immediately throw it back to Crawford on the first play and the wisdom of putting all of the pressure on a freshman who was 0-2 from the line at that point in the game.
