The OFFICIAL 2014 Mother's Basement MLB Season Thread - #dynasty vs. #destiny

Can you be better than the Astros next year?
Depends. If Bradley Jr and Middlebrooks are on the roster, I think we're looking at around 67 wins next year. If they aren't, 97 wins. Can we package them and some of our overhyped mid-5 ERA young pitchers for Correa?

In all seriousness, the Boston media is the absolute worst when it comes to overhyping prospects. The worst.

Honestly, I think every media outlet is like that. Houston's newspaper has a couple damn BBWAA guys and all they do is rip the current front office while hyping prospects. When Jeff Luhnow doesn't call up prospects, they cite "anonymous sources" who call him Jeff LoseNow. When those prospects are called up and struggle, they just hype the next wave of prospects. It's an absurd cycle.

Haha just fucking with you man. Tigs rotation is honestly pretty shitty pre-Price. No room to talk, no matter who the 4 are come playoffs.

The locker room during a celebration seems like about the most fun a human could have.

Why hang out in the clubhouse when you can come on the field and celebrate with the fans and family?

Tomorrow im wearing a jacket that smells of stale beer that Todd Hundley and Caleb Joseph doused all over me

Celebration was definitely much better two years ago when we clinched at home.

Speaking of it, I think Jake Arrieta has definitely found it. Based on most metrics, he is the second best pitcher in the NL this year in only 24 starts.

Excited to see what the Cubs do in the offseason to ramp up this staff and shore up the OF. Thinking we go:

C - Castillo
1B - Rizzo
2B - Baez
SS - Castro
3B - Bryant
LF - FA
CF - Alcantara
RF - Soler

SP - Arrieta
SP - Hendricks
SP - Wood
SP - Wada / FA
SP - FA

Wouldn't mind Melky, Rios, Nelson Cruz or maybe even Colby Rasmus as the last OF spot and one of the big FA pitchers, like Lester or Shields, and then maybe take a stab on someone like Josh Johnson, Edinson Volquez or someone that could be a quality 3rd/4th starter with upside that won't cost premium dollars.

I proudly wore my beer soaked jacket to work. It still reeks of stale beer. I'm surprised Britt or someone didn't get video of that.
