Wake/State

Appreciate the insight. I think there's a ton of upside in Doral. It just needs to come out and I think it's going to take another year or two for that to happen. I like what he brings around the rim.

Doral will get plenty of minutes next season (as many minutes as his foul issues allow). Was great to see Big Sam grab a couple of boards in limited action yesterday.

A sincere thank you for doing your part to get Gott canned before Archie Miller gets a big job

If you take out the two aberrational games (9,7 TOs), Bryant is only averaging 1.8 TOs/game vs. 5.7 assists. That's damn good.

Crawford has played much more under control since the ACC season began. He seems to be letting the game come to him. BC right now vs the BC a year ago is like night and day. Congratulations to Bryant for making significant strides.

Wouldn't be shocked at all to see him listed on early 2018 mock drafts.

Outside of Dinos, what player hasn't improved significantly since last season/beginning of this season?

This is just eye test, but Wilbekin and McClinton seem to be about the same. Haven't seen much improvement over the course of their careers.

Collins - unbelievable, dramatic improvement. He showed flashes last year but didn't get enough run for his abilities to really be out on display. Even still, I don't think anybody predicted this meteoric rise

Crawford - very improved. As has been noted, he appears to play more within himself and lets the game come to him. Don't think we've seen his ceiling yet though

Moore - improved. Still needs to figure out his role when he's on the floor. And somebody needs to just tell him that he's over 7' tall. Like Crawford, don't think we've seen his ceiling yet. IMO he has all the physical tools to be as impactful when he's in the game as Collins has been this year. There was one game last year, can't remember which, where he had a couple sequences that were like defensive reb - dunk - block - dunk. Or something like that. It was like a minute long flash of what Moore could be.

Dinos - I would say he's improved, but that's probably subjective and depends on your perspective more than anything. He doesn't appear to shoot as many 3's as last year but his added bulk gives him a new post game facet to what he brings to the game.

Arians, Woods, SJM, Mitchell, and Washington are all new. Which is pretty crazy to think about now that I've typed that. Again, all that is just eye-test

Wilbekin has improved significantly.

I wouldn't say that Dino's improved his game (one dimensional streaky shooter) but that he has overhauled his game to be a more consistent rebounder and down low scorer. When he got here I am not sure he knew where the low block was; now he has a few decent moves and has scored on several offensive rebounds and "and ones." That is needed more by this team with the addition of other outside shooters.

Here are some of Wilbekin's stats over his career:

Overall, I'd say he has improved. With similar minutes and usage rates he has lower turnover rate each year, similar assist rate, increased FT rate, while consistently improving his FT%. I guess the case can be made that the better teams have helped improve some of his numbers, plus his rebounding rate has dropped every year (OR% dropped as well each year). I don't know if defense has been his strength any year, but as an offensive player I think it can be seen he's gotten better.

Wilbekin has improved dramatically. He still sux bad on D though.

Lil Chill has improved a bunch in two months.

Doral did take a step back before taking a step forward.

Look, Wake is right there being a middle of the road ACC team with what I would consider less than middle of the road recruiting. That's coaching.

DM still infuriates me with his in-game management, though I think he is improving there. But his kids seem to all play above their recruiting rankings.

Remember that DM learned the college game from Larry Brown. And Larry Brown's teams all took a step back before they took 2 steps forward. I think we've seen some of that this year with DM's approach.

This thread is amazing for so many reasons. I think the best part is they're all 100% serious and think that their fanbase is amazing company for an away fan.

Haha I like the Duke guy that said "Wake has the most profane fans I've encountered" or whatever. I've encountered multiple state fans wanting to fight because I cheered for the team playing them.

Was fortunate to have court side seats for the game and when Moore fouled Anya hard under the basket, I swear that there was a tremor in the floor when he went down! :)

There was a drunk belligerent State fan in 111 that was loudly f-bombing the refs around many kids, assured that the officiating was why they were down 20 at the half. I think the police may have escorted him out after the half.
