WF Baseball Off-season Thread

Dunshee pitched with the Giants AA and AAA teams this past season. He's currently a FA. Would expect he will sign as a minor league free agent when camps open. That said, he's turning 29 in February, going to need some breaks to make it to the bigs at this point.

I assume Mondou is in now or never territory too. I believe he was also in the A’s system for quite a while.
 
Mondou appeared in one MLB game for Oakland in 2022; he went 0 for 2 with a BB and K. So, he made it to the show.

This off-season, he signed a minor league deal with the Padres.

Mondou was in the White Sox org last year. Played on their Triple A team in Charlotte.

The AAA team in Clt was among the worst in the minors during the second half. Just a remarkably bad organization.
 
Kenny Williams and Rick Hahn mailed it in over the past few years. Diamond Deac Chris Getz is now running the show. He has his work cut out for him.

Chris Getz is part of the problem. By all accounts he threw Kenny and Rick under the bus…claiming he could do better, all while presiding over one of the worst farm systems in baseball. He had major influence in hiring clearly qualified Manager Pedro Grafol. It’s unfortunate but man Getz has been unimpressive and a snake in afraid

Have no idea of the inner-workings of the White Sox front office, but Kenny and Rick hired Getz, and they let the ship sink under their watch; so, no sympathy for either.

That said, thought it was odd/questionable/misguided to hire someone from within the organization to take over after the way things had fallen apart. Seemed like the obvious time to start anew. Reinsdorf has always wanted to do his own thing. He's 87; so, one or another, CWS will have a new owner fairly soon.

Yeah. I don’t think Kenny and Rick hired Getz. Yes it was on there watch but if Reinadorf had a buddy tell him to hire Getz I to the org he would’ve made them do it. Reinsdorf has a bizarre fascination with the Royals…
Such a talented team that wasted a window when they hired LaRussa. Ah well.

I think your both right. But Getz still may be okay. Right now, he's assembling a team to get a lot of outs quickly and make a lot of outs quickly. Chi Sox may play a game in under two hours.
