What is the best sandwich?

Looks like one of those kind of foods where it’s warm on the outside then you take a bite and the scalding oil and filling on the inside burns your gums. Yeah I’d eat that no question.

Me too, but not in one bite.

still have not had a chance to try it since it's so far out of the way in chicago, but i found this article about the chicago breaded steak sandwich w/ giardiniera to be compelling: https://ftw.usatoday.com/2015/03/ricobenes-chicago-best-sandwich-in-the-world-breaded-steak

a couple of the ones that stick out for me:

i lived in LA during the big food truck craze and my fav was this one called "nom nom truck" that served banh mi. i'm not sure if it's bc that was the first time i really tried them, but i still haven't found one i liked as much. https://quarrylanefarms.wordpress.c...st-banh-mi-sandwich-ever-perfection-hotchick/

i think it's bc the baguette was softer and less crumby.

in DC, there's a place called the royal that makes an amazing fried chicken sandwich. i don't love fried chicken usually, but this one is colorful and saucy and on a brioche bun.

FRIED CHICKEN SANDWICH
pickled fresno, grilled cabbage, jalapeno aioli, fries

the type of sandwich i probably enjoy most over average is just a classic egg salad tho.

Beef on Weck is a pretty great sandwich.
This. I'm off to upstate New York this weekend to see the father-in-law and we are headed to a fundraiser where they will have all you can eat Beef on Weck. Will need to starve myself ahead if time. So so good.

have you been to the Eden Center? Also the nearby Banh Mi DC Sandwich

i really like this video around sandwich making

getting the right amount of juice+mayo on a sandwich is so tricky but to me super critical.

i've been trying to remember for a while and finally was able to place it -- there was this random neighborhood market in santa monica that made my fav italian subs specifically bc of getting that ratio perfectly right. https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-farms-santa-monica

Not in Charlotte proper, but The Loyalist in Matthews is a great cheesemonger/charcutier and has a terrific muffaletta as well.

I generally think Jersey Mikes does a very good job of that, which is why they're the best of the chains (though far from the best sandwich obviously).
Jersey's Mike is hands down the best sub chain. I will get #8 and get roast beef instead of the bacon. Great sandwich.

Outside of local, you’re probably right. The only argument would be Penn Station because they have fries.

I don’t care much for bagged potato chips.
