WSJ Article - "[Redacted]'s Last Stand"

http://www.grantland.com/blog/the-t...mark-tituss-college-basketball-mailbag-part-2

Can you hear that? It’s the sound of the #BUZZOUT movement, lost and misguided, stomping and splashing in the baby pool, needing your fearless leadership. The “Twitter account, the #BuzzOut hashtag, the radio show takeover, the ads in the Greensboro News & Record, the billboard, and best of all FireBz.com” that you referenced were all dandy, but no one has stepped up for the SUPER BOWL COMMERCIAL KICKSTARTER!
We need you, Mark. Be the leader that Winston-Salem may not deserve, but clearly needs.
— Justin H.

I feel so bad for Wake Forest fans. The #BuzzOut movement was gaining traction, but then the Demon Deacons started out 10-3. If the last three seasons weren’t enough for Jeff [Redacted] to get fired, there’s no telling what a 103 non-conference record is going to do. If Wake Forest beats the Tar Heels on Sunday, Ron Wellman will probably do all he can to make [Redacted] governor of North Carolina. Wake Forest fans are caught in that weird place that Dallas Cowboys fans know all too well: You don’t know if you should cheer for your team to win, because then the coach will get credit and hold on to his job longer, or if you should root for them to nosedive so changes will have to be made. As it stands, [Redacted] appears to be good enough to keep his job but not good enough for Winston-Salem to have any kind of hope, and the #BuzzOut movement is losing steam.

The holiday season is a joyful time for so many of us, but as you celebrate with your loved ones, please remember that there are some people out there who aren’t as privileged as the rest. For them, the holidays are a cruel reminder that what they truly want is unattainable. So if it’s not too much to ask, please say a little prayer for these Wake Forest fans. Maybe even look up a random Winston-Salem address and send a card that says you’re thinking about them. Any little bit helps.

Speaking of basketball fans in North Carolina, let’s check in on how things are going over in Chapel Hill.

Club Trill needs to dig deeper than that 10-3 record and look at our schedule. After a 5-13/6-12 mark in conference, this nightmare will be over. Book it.

December 31st has somehow morphed into April 1st. Fucking global warming.

The bzzout movement doesn't sleep...it waits.

Carolina will be the true measure. Lose bad at home and then go on the road and we all know how this is going to go.

No idea who that Justin H. person is.

Also, I tweeted at the Jeff Laughlin character asking if he actually believes in everything he writes. His response: "I believe in everything I write. Even the untrue stuff." Weird response.

Did anybody else notice that the caption on the third photo says "Head coach Jeff [Redacted] of Duke reacts near the end of a loss to Duke Saturday"?

I thought Xavier was the true measuring stick. Oh wait.

We've played pretty poorly in stretches at home this year, and let's remember UNC beat then #1 Michigan State on the road by 14. I think Roy is going to have the troops ready to start ACC play. If we turn the ball over, UNC will run us out of the gym.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised by any result in the Wake/Carolina game.

Yeah, what ass hole would spend that much time inserting all of those links

Maybe he should actually go to a game and watch with the 500 or so people that actually show up. Included in this group is the "fringe" that actually support Bz, though I suppose most of the 500 are there to witness the horror, similar to slowing down to view a car wreck.

The only open question regarding Bzzz is where will he rate compared to Bob Wade and Staak?

It's not really an open question. Buzz has been far worse to date than both Staak and Wade. Check out the Overall SRS of each coach (in bold). SRS stands for simple rating system which takes into account point differential and strength of schedule and then assigns a value to every team with the average being zero (so this year #175 would have an SRS close to zero).

The only open question is how much worse Buzz will end up being than Staak and Wade.

I thought this bit was bold.

[Redacted] has cleaned up a Wake team that had a rash of off-the-court issues during his first season. The team’s character and classroom discipline is now unquestionably strong.

Exactly how does this beard-wearing, taco-guzzling 30-something wanna be journalist have such unquestionable certainty into the team's character and classroom discipline?

It reads like he's been hitting the bong with Devin.

Jesus.

Espn classic showing the 1995 ACC championship game. It's in the second half, Childress going to the line.

Espn trolling us

I guess the subtle point is he cleaned up a mess that occurred under him. No wait #blamegaudio

Bz is the worst coach in the history of the ACC. I'm not even sure how this is up for debate at this point.

Correct. And he has done everything Ron Wellman has asked him to do.
