WSJ Article - "[Redacted]'s Last Stand"

[Redacted] resigns in March. There will be no "firing".

I think this was likely part of a gentlemens agreement [Redacted] and Ron came to after last season. Ron agreed to give [Redacted] one more year to make the postseason. If not, [Redacted] would resign and Wake would owe him nothing for year 5 on his original deal.

It is a win-win for both of them. Ron either proved everyone wrong with [Redacted] coming through with a winning season or he got him off the books with a complete fresh start financially to find a new coach.
Exactly....except the "gentlemen's" agreement took place when hired. He was essentially given extra time than is given in most coaching changes to retool whatever was perceived wrong with the program. What that was and real/not is immaterial to said agreement. But underlying said agreement......Wellman believed him better able to coach a team and coach up players, that hasn't happened to date. Either that happens or it doesn't and the evidence should be crystal clear this year...with a fairly young but experienced team and all Bz recruits. Wellman can then honestly say he honored the agreement, and praise Bz for "righting" the program. Bz will resign stating he's just not the coach for Wake.

Unless Bz gets to the NIT, which means some big wins given the weak schedule, that's what I think will happen.

By contrast, Buzz's suit/shirt/tie combo looks damn stylish.

The bzzout movement doesn't sleep...it waits.
We all wait.

IMO the vocal movement has quieted down a bit though because Wellman made a good football hire and I think Codi/Coron's play has surprised people. Most of the vocal crowd was predicting epic disaster in bball, citing no replacement for CJ. That hasn't happened. It bodes well for the future regardless of coach.

Right. The "gentlemen's agreement" under which [Redacted] re-recruited all of Dino's recruits, kept Ty Walker for 4 years despite his many indiscretions (one of which led to another player leaving Wake), fought to give Tony Woods the right to come back, named Gary Clark captain, retained Dino's assistants, etc.

That gentlemen's agreement, right?
