Scorched earth won't work. What part of Wellman does not give a shit do people not understand? There is absolutely no guarantee Wellman will fire Bz even if its another debacle of a season. In fact I think its more likely he doubles down. Again.

I actually have come to the realization that a somewhat positive, trend upwards will give Wellman and Bz the breathing room they need to save a little face. Bz takes his 17/18/19 wins or whatever and moves on to greener pastures, Wellman thanks him for establishing a solid foundation and restoring "integrity and culture" to the program. And we move on. I actually think this is a more likely scenario than Wellman buckling under the Suck. So thats what I'm rooting for.
 
Save face? Why would Bz need to leave if there is #improvement?

I think we're hoping Wellman will be fired or retire. It's pretty clear that things won't get better until the whole athletic department is cleaned out. Too many LOWFers in there.

we would all be on board at this point for a "winning" season or whatever accounts for that if at the end of it bzz and wellman announced bzz retirement to a bunch of thanks and ad fanfare like you mention. it will not happen. this is now about ron's ego and his LOWF mentality. ron will happily keep bzz in place as long as he is here if bzz is turning in .500 seasons or being "on the bubble." he will continue the "hard to win, won't compromise values" diatribe. wellman goes or LOWF remains alive and well. heck there certainly appears to be evidence that the BOT and Hatch are LOWF as well.

Do you really think we are going to suck this year? I think you need four guys who could realistically come out and drop 25 in a game to have shot at winning more games than you lose in the ACC. We haven't had that since JJ and Teague left.

This year, by the grace of God after adding Coron, we actually do have those four guys. I am fairly surprised that Codi has apparently reached that level and maybe he'll take a few steps back when he faces more athletic competition (and maybe Coron will be out-sized), but for the first time in a good chunk of years, we have Codi, Devin obviously, Coron and Travis that can get 25 for ya if they get hot. That is a huge change.

I just think folks are going to be in for a pleasant surprise. And you can say that and then still say in the next breath we do not have a very good leader of our basketball program. I am going to backtrack a bit and say we probably do not have a very good leader. Bzd has changed his approach for whatever reason, call it spineless if you want, call it the ability to adapt, but we are running and playing fast which is more exciting to watch (when done well) and we've accumulated good people and talent. I don't think Sweet 16 talent obviously, but I am starting to think, to hope anyway, that we will go into every game with a fair shot at winning, or at least a chance. Remember when we used to go into every game thinking we should win? Obviously we aren't there but the last three years before this one it sure has sucked to start a game against say Gtech or Clemson and know before the tip we are going to lose. But I don't call that my long [Redacted] depression. I call it Tony Chennault itis. Dude just made me sad. It was like cheering for the Kansas City Royals the last 15 years.
 
Travis McKie has scored 25 points exactly 4 times in his career at Wake Forest, the last time occurring back in January of 2011.

He has a chance, sure, but I would be mildly surprised if he hits 25 or more in a game this year. He just doesn't have a dynamic offensive game, in my opinion.

I'm not basing it on hope. As I said, I think we have four scorers. And I'm not sitting here stating as fact we are going to be a bubble team or any of that. What I am saying in a nutshell that most of you have such bzd loathing that you cannot see what's going on on the court.

We are a more confident team, a more experienced team, we play hard, we get easy baskets based on solid rebounding (Devin still, Moto way better, Cav a bit better) and really really good outlet passes, our spacing is tons better, we have depth. Those variables are all going to translate into more wins, I think. That is my opinion based not on how much I dislike or like the coach, but from what I see thru four games.

There are a number of red flags. Our team defense at defending the 3point shot is pretty bad. we make help decisions that are bad. Our offensive rebounding is still pretty bad. When Coron is not on the floor, our good spacing doesn't matter because defenses can sag like hell. Those are all problems that are going to be exploited by better teams, but we also have months to get better. We will see if we do get better. But I like what I see. I am happy Jacksonville junked together a nice comeback. They are not very good, nor do I think they are that well coached, but we made a handful of mistakes and then cleaned it up. Devin was not a beast on the offensive end so we went to Travis, to Cav, to Coron and Codi. All that bodes well. We'll see.

Hope is not a method, but it certainly fucking helps to have hope when you sit down to watch a game. I no longer have Tony Chennault nighmares. I swear to fucking God when he was a soph I would wake up with sweats thinking I had to endure 2 1/2 more years of him at the point. I'd have rather watched Butterbean run point for us than him.

Anyway, I will try not to try so hard. I actually haven't been posting much for months. Today is a procrastination day.

got it. I'm out of my league on avatars. Either it's my kid or I don't know, a monkey in sunglasses or something. I used to have a video of monkey jacking off on two tourists riding in the back of a carriage thru Central Park but I lost it in a move. This is pre gif, pre memory stick days. Fuck, I might even have had it on VHS now that I think about it.

And yes he came all over them with a fucking smile on his face. I kid you not. My buddy's monkey too. He thought it would help attract more rides. He was a standup so he tells it great. About once a month the monkey would decide it was time to jack it, wait for a lady in red and just spray it all over her, him, himself. He got more rides than the carriages that didn't have a monkey but the once a month dry cleaning bill sort of killed it. Plus, he was constantly on edge so he gave the monkey away. I actually kept the monkey for three days once. Worst 3 days of my life. I locked him in the bathroom and pissed in my kitchen sink, even took shits in a plastic bag I was so afraid of him.
