Assistant Coaches - Belin and Jackson retained, Cohen hired for DL

I like Himey, but what has he accomplished here? He had huge OTs and tried to get them to block like smaller, more athletic types. That failed. He changed to a "wide split" strategy that won us two games. When Syracuse figured how to stop that, he had no counter punch ready. Our defense played well enough to win the last two games and send us to a bowl, but we couldn't run the ball. There was no push from the OL and it appeared that the DL was hitting our guys first. He did choose the best center to start, but settled for the unsuccessful play of the rest. LOBO should take most of the blame. His lame strategy couldn't be made up by Himey's blocking schemes. But what has he done to make our guys any better?

If he were hired, it would be a bit awkward that Clawson tried to hire someone else over him, right?

That's just part of life. Do you think you were the first choice for every job you've had?

Cohen has never coached the defensive line in his career

That is interesting. Obviously I would prefer a position coach have line experience, but I tend to think that someone with that kind of experience up to the coordinator level is capable of coaching any of the position groups on his side of the ball.

I also don't mind hardass coaches.

Cohen told Wellman to stop being a p*ssy and threatened to head butt him if Wellkman kept on acting like a b!tch.

In other news...Cohen says that Clawson didn't even know how to cook pasta when they first lived together during their first coaching stint.

So we will be implementing a 4-2-5. Initially I don't like it because we are so thin up front (weight wise). But I trust clawson. I believe duke ran it this year and was pretty successful and doubt that they are THAT much bigger than us up front.

I know little about this story other than what I've seen here, but there have to be plenty of guys who can coach DLs. Why take on this guy's baggage?

Hell I think we need hard nosed coach to push our players. Tired of this soft crap.

Yeah seems as if with the culture war, they would have avoided this "appearance" like the plague...Then again, normal people avoid hiring coaches with 3 losing seasons like the plague. Or they just avoid the plague like they should avoid bzzdilicks.

I'm guessing there dozens of excellent, hard nosed DL coaches who don't have pending harassment probes.

True. But to answer your question, this is Clawsons guy. And it appears that Wellman has placed full trust in who Clawson hires. So if Clawson hires him, he believes in his coaching ability, and that he won't be an issue like he has previously been.
