Travis McKie

When he fouled on the three point shot and threw that pass about 10 feet too high it really didn't look like he cared.

1 freaking rebound in 30 minutes is unacceptable. He didnt have his stroke last night, that is fine, but the one rebound is inexcusable, especially with them all over the offensive glass. Travis should be able to get 10 and 6 every night just by hustling. In the UNC game most of his points came in transition. He is our best finisher on the break and secondary break after CMM. Get on the glass, outlet then run your ass off. If not sit the fuck down.

4 years of Bz has broken him.

% of FGA that were 3 pointers:
Freshman year: 18.9%
Sophomore year: 23.7%
Junior year 32.3%
Senior year 44.4%

McKie averaged at least 7 rebounds a game each of his 1st 3 seasons. This year, he is hanging out on the perimeter shooting nearly half of his shots 20 feet from the basket and hitting those shots at a sub-30% clip. Brilliant coaching.

Last night was the kind of game near the end where you'd expect your senior to carry you to victory. Either by some clutch free throws, an offensive rebound or two, or driving to the basket for a score. I really thought Travis was going to deliver last night. He did not.

There was a brief second last night after seeing Travis flash down low twice and post up that I thought they finally figured it out and he would get used like he was as a freshman. That would have been a game changer for our offense but hell after getting two fouls called on warren as a result of him posting up they went right back to him standing on the opposite side of the floor starring out into the abyss.
Oh well :tard:

And yet Travis really hasn't digressed that much.

Here are his PER, Usage Rate, and Win Shares per 40 minutes (with team rank for each) over his career.

PER*: 20.3 (1); 20.3 (2); 20.6 (1); 16.6 (4)

USG*: 21.7% (4th); 25.8 (1); 22.1 (3); 17.6 (6)

WS: 2.7 (1); 3.1 (2); 3.6 (1); 1.8 (2)

* For PER and Usage I only included players averaging 10+ min. a game.

His PER has come down about 20% but so has his usage rate. And despite this drop off he is still second on the team in Win Shares, a decent indicator of an individual's contribution to team success.

But proceed to throw him under the bus

Don't know much about the stats you are using, but wouldn't it be logical to think that the guy who is #2 in minutes like Travis is, would be #2 in Win Shares?

I've brought up Travis several times in the past few weeks. More than I've wanted to, but something is just not right. In 6 of 7 of our top 50 games he has made 9 field goals and had 6 turnovers. The only exception is the UNC game where he looked totally engaged and had 7 fg on 11 attempts. I'm not buying that Bz decided to use Travis more in that game because he really wanted to win and says screw him in the other games. I'm also not buying that defenses are concentrating more on Travis. Devin and Codi are the main focus of opposing defenses. I will blame Bz for not forcing Travis to attack the basket more and post up more. But if he is as disengaged as he looks he should sit him more.

His lack of rebounding in these games has been fairly weak also.

I wonder if the injured ankle is bothering him more than we realize. At any rate if it is, as some suggest, he's fed up with Bz then playing him is another reason Bz should be fired.

Agree, he should concentrate on the rebounds, no doubt.

Driving, requires dribbling, and that is NOT a strong suit.

Staring out into the abyss is the best description of what is going on.

Wake needs McKie to play with energy and aggressiveness to be a good team, especially on offense. That hasn't happened with the exception of a couple games this year.

Racerdeac and tbr said I shouldn't say Travis is terrible yet everyone is saying he should be benched. If you should be benched on the current Wake team, you have to be really terrible correct?
