Will all the Bz Outers support Wake once his is gone, or.....

We are still on target for 17-14. Good chance we win 2 of 3, but then we are dogs in 8 of our last 9 games.

But I think the salient issue is........if you're complaining endlessly about the asshole behavior of Wellman and Bz towards the fan base, acting the same on here towards others in the fanbase is a bit hypocritical. People have invested thousands and thousands of posts saying basically "fuck you Bz" and "fuck you Wake fan if you don't agree". I'm not sure what they'll do when he's gone. It's like some sort of addiction. I suspect we'll be reading thousands upon thousands of posts comparing the new coach with Bz though.

If you've been around since the "early days of the internet" then you know full damn well that when Bzz is gone, the sniping will drop to a bare minimum

I think we'll be favored against both Clemson and BC down the stretch, but I'm splitting hairs. KenPom projects us at 18-13 (8-10) after last night so essentially beating ND, GT, Clemson, BC, and winning one of Cuse/Duke/FSU or stealing another road game.
 
I don't see us beating that string of teams without a misstep, but who knows. Anyway, I don't think there is any way we get in the tournament. We've been snubbed as the 5th place team with something like 19 wins and an RPI in the 30s before. Our non-conference schedule is so weak, I think we would need at least 20 wins.

A number of posters said Wake would need at least 21 wins and likely 22 to get in given the weakness of the non-conference schedule.

Sniping? I'm saying, people will be saying "as least we have someone better than Bz who used to do....blah blah blah"..probably for a good 3 years. I don't think Bz is going to exit the psyche of this board for a long long time. He's become a part of a lot of people..who hate him.

I believe those posters are looking at the forecast RPI site and they have sort of a slight misconception of the numbers.

"Expected RPI" in that calculation is a way to estimate RPI but is used to rank the teams. The actual RPI when those expected RPIs are lined up is always slightly higher. 21 wins is currently a 50 RPI but would be in the high 40s. The "expected RPI" ranking also depends on teams performing at current levels, and a team like UNC could just show up and play well all of the sudden making that win look better, as it would in most normal years. We also played well at home vs highly ranked teams, and that would influence things in a positive way (expected non conference SOS is 220 out of 350). The expected RPI has been moving upwards over time (graph shown).

On every thread? No way. It's fuck Bz Bz Bz Bz Bz Bz Wellman Wellman Wellman and the "Bz inners" (that don't even exist) 24/7/365. It's even showing up on non-sports threads. The only reason Dino is still brought up regularly is because of "fuck Bz" and "fuck Wellman".

Those Bz-in people existed the last few years and deserve to be ridiculed mercilessly for supporting that clown.

With Ronnie's position on the Selection Committee, we may make it if we're on the bubble. He has a proven track record of making friends and winning hearts and minds.

Here's the thing. As someone said, you can't support Wake and also support Buzz. Buzz works for Wake. He is not Wake. Maybe he's a great guy IRL, but he comes across as extremely incompetent and prickly in the media (e.g., "I'm tired of talking about the road").

If and when Buzz leaves, whether I support the coach/employee of Wake who replaces him will depend on who it is, how he comes across in media and whether he wins or loses. The very important difference will be that I will (hopefully) have some hope for and interest in WFU basketball. I have none of either at the moment.

The fact that Wellman/Buzz have brought me to a place where I have to wonder whether wins are, in the long term, good or bad for Wake is an almost unforgivable breach of stewardship over the school and program that I have cared about for decades. Stated another way, the harsh criticism of Buzz and Wellman is something they earned- not something a bunch of cynical internet assholes have unfairly dumped on them. If we are cynical internet assholes, it's only because they made us that way.
